Trapdoor

Hi, This week be a post of two halves. If you can make it a three halves of one, the current UK administration have a job for you in budgeting 😋 Thank you, I’m here all week! Try the vegetarian option! 😉 Introspection Now if you don’t want to wade through this next chunk of navel gazing, feel free to skip to the end and there’s the usual What Lynn Did Next at Chams stuff. 🙂 I have had another period of time off work. Nothing serious – as in a major physical condition or an ‘episode’ around mental health – thankfully, but a seasonal cold that flattened me. We’ll come back to this in a mo. Before the above, […]

Magical Big Girl Pants

Hi, I think I’m going to just dive in and waffle my way out of stumbling around this post 🙂 I know: what’s new! 😉 It’s not been an easy week and certainly one of highs and lows. The bad news is the awful treatment of helpline volunteers at Mermaids and this resulted in the charity closing the line for a time. There’s not much I can do (I doubt my MP will listen), so I’ve donated to help top up the funds. At least that feels like doing something. In more positive news, I’ve been trying to focus on the moment rather than being such in my head. I stumbled upon a phrase – I am not my thoughts […]

Rethink

Hi, An afternoon nap, a blanket, and a heatpad (warm the person, not the room 🙂) may not solve all ills, but they’re not a had place to start, IMO. Firstly, a big thank you to those who got in touch, offered to listen, offer their help, or shared their experiences. It all helps, so thank you. ❤️ Conversation The Ever Lovely Mrs J suggested that there might be an employee assistance programme that could offer help around whatever is bugging me. As usual, Mrs J was well informed and by lucky happenstance, I got an appointment very quickly. What can I tell you about it? Okay, well the good news is there may be a few ideas to explore […]

Shadows and light

Hi, How’s things with you, dear reader? Hopefully good, and if not, fingers crossed they’ll soon improve. Expect rain A few of you have been kind enough to get touch and to mention your concern about – how to put this? – that there’s been a darker turn to my writing of late. First off, thank you to those who got in touch; it means a lot. ❤️ So, secondly, I may call of the sage wisdom of veteran news reporter, John Sergeant. He said (and I’ll paraphrase) for any good report, focus on: what’s going on, what’s next, and will it get worse. Oh, you might want to get a cup of tea and settle in. This may be […]

Mostly sunny, occasionally overcast

Hi, After last week’s bounty of good news and happy memories, I’ve been trying to keep an eye on things that are going well. When Calie very kindly featured a post of mine on T Central, she made comment that things have been a little dark of late on YATGB… and she’d not be wrong. Mostly sunny, occasionally overcast. 😋 Writing here, well, I try to be honest as best I can. Most of the time, life bumbles along and that’s cool. There’s rare rumblings of the less than ideal, but they are thankfully outweighed by good things in life. I think the crux of it is that – for the media at least – panic, doom, gloom, and conflict […]

Wax on, wax off

Hi, Shall we have a round of good news? Just for a change of thoughtful introspection, worry, or talk of coping. 🙂 Wish List With the summer holidays coming to a close and a change from short to long trousers, I dared to dream of being rid of the accursed leg fluff. Usually, I would opt for the epilator and wince my way through the process. But with another decade on the clock not too far away, I felt now was the time for something off the wish list. I mean, I’ve heard it said that you should aim for experiences and memories, rather than possessions. After a quick look online, I found a waxing specialist in a nearby village […]
