Fighting the Good Fight

Hi, There’s a phrase to stir the imagination: fighting the good fight. Can a fight ever be good? Well, I suppose protecting someone perhaps. Maybe also a gang of mink escaping to give their captor a brief nip, or a lady of advancing years firmly and proudly belting a young mugger firmly in the happy sacks. Perhaps they could fall into said category. Of late I’ve been having some issues in the nose/lung department. Nothing serious, just a case of the miles on the clock adding up, and my snoring – yes, how delicate and oh-so-femme (warning: that was meant ironically 🙂 ), is not great. To allow the Ever Lovely Mrs J to get a good night’s kip, I […]

Scaffolding

Hi, I think I now know what my blogging kryptonite is… or maybe even, are. Namely: trying to write a post after a very tasty meal. All brain power has been redirected to my stomach. Hey, I’m a man, a dad, and over 40. Frankly, it’s touch and go monotasking. 😛 failing to write down any semblance of a theme the first gin & tonic in many months Tiredness Any combination of the above 🙂 Hmm. I may just have to wing it. 😀 With the cooler weather now very much in place – and thank all that’s fabulous! 🙂 – it was time to think about transitional dresses. Not quite summer, not quite autumn, but that lovely in-between time. Thinking back […]

Recharging

Hi, Earlier today I was out at lunch, walking through the leafy suburb of West Bridgford. Given that it was Chameleons last night (woo!), I make the short journey over in the car to pay the group’s money into the bank. Not that the walk lets me people watch and chance to pop into my favourite fancy sandwich shop. I should add this is *after* I’ve paid the money in, not before. 😉 As I walked back I stopped by a jewelry shop to pick something up for the Ever Lovely Mrs J. Give it a few weeks and we’ll have been married 20 years. I don’t say this as a brag, but with thanks and gratitude. I’m thankful for […]

Funshine

Hi, Despite somehow catching a cold in summer and the lengthy downpours, the British Weather is having a final throw of the dice for sun, wispy white clouds, and pale blue skies. Put away your opaques and boots, break out the sandals and fancy tops one more time 🙂 For whatever reason I had a sting of dysphoria at the start of the week, resulting in a shoe purchase as medication. Like many material purchases, it’s the search that distracts, not the purchased goods. I think I know that you should aim for experiences, not possessions. Still, when you’re on the work-home-work-home treadmill, sneaking in some T time isn’t always easy. It seems that in times of dysphoric dissonance, I fall […]

Temptation

Hi, The Night Before a Night Out It’s Wednesday night and I’ve just about packed a bag. I say just about, as I’m not quite sure what I’ll be wearing on Thursday. Why do I get this? Why is deciding what to wear so tricky? I opened my wardrobe and ignoring the bloke work shirts that are on the right, there’s tops, pretty skirts, leggings, jeans and the odd bit of sparkle. To my left, there’s the tall cupboard, which, if I’m honest, is 60% mine; filled with dresses and my only coat. Well, my only ‘Lynn’ coat, because I’m not really an outdoors trans person. Okay, mostly. 🙂 Instead, I’ve hedged my bets with an old favourite, a wrap […]
