Self-care

Hiya, This week I had the good fortune to be asked to run some trans awareness training. Unusually the event was during the evening, so no long lunch was required. Also, and given the time, I checked with the Ever Lovely Mrs J that she was okay about holding the fort and with me going along. All was fine, which is very cool and the peck on my cheek for good luck put a spring in my step. I think there’s nothing quite like acceptance to make you feel loved. I’m not going to talk about the training or the venue. Maybe I would have posted s snap if I hadn’t been in bloke mode, but you can’t have it […]

Stillness

Hi, This week on our development course – that’s helping others develop, not us (well sorta) – we had a visit from a counsellor. She specialised in getting people to get outside and to join her on walks in the countryside. As an icebreaker, she asked us to think of our preferred natural habitat. Before you think it, it wasn’t swanning about en femme someplace 🙂 I’ve said this a few times before on this blog, but my go-to place for tranquillity – either in my head or in the real world – is woodland. Ideally old woods, with huge trees that reach up to the sky and whose branches splay out to cover the sky that beautiful mix of […]

Moving on

Hi, Am I glad it’s Friday! What a week. Sheesh. I feel like a hamster that’s been through an angry pinball machine. 🙂 None of this is T related. Just the punch-and-you-better-duck of life in general. A parking ticket at work, meetings, botched appointments, website woes*, and other malarkey that frankly…. and as the immortal line goes, “I’m getting too old for this shit.” 🙂 The above is all sorted out, but I could have done without that type of stress. Other stress, like deadlines, workload, and short bursts of dysphoria, I manage to cope with. It’s not so much the pressure, but the feeling of being trapped and unable to fix things that gets to me. Then, things get […]

Being kind

Hi, Well, that’s the first week of work in the bag. Well, I say work, it was mostly as case of turning up, replying to a few emails and going to one meeting per day. Still, provided you can find creative ways to pass the time, there are worse ways to make a living. 😉 Plus, in the sales I found a new groovy shirt and a rather pretty spring/summer dress. Yay! With Christmas now over and the long haul through the winter to the spring, I was reminded of something a friend, W, said to me. She said she found it fairly easy to be there for others, but when it came to her own well-being, she found it […]

Standing up to the fear

Hi, There’s a bit of recurring theme when it comes to Friday night’s blog. During the week, I store up ideas for things to write about, or rifle through my stash on drier weeks, and yet, oftentimes, I find myself staring at this empty white box. Not stuck for something to say, but running a monologue, trying to find a way to start the conversation – such that it is – and get going. It seems, as I read in a writing tips newsletter, to just ‘have at it’ – well, it was International Talk Like a Pirate Day, last week – and get going. As per, that seems to have done the trick. Umm… yarrr? 🙂 Part One There […]
