Being kind

Hi, Well, that’s the first week of work in the bag. Well, I say work, it was mostly as case of turning up, replying to a few emails and going to one meeting per day. Still, provided you can find creative ways to pass the time, there are worse ways to make a living. 😉 Plus, in the sales I found a new groovy shirt and a rather pretty spring/summer dress. Yay! With Christmas now over and the long haul through the winter to the spring, I was reminded of something a friend, W, said to me. She said she found it fairly easy to be there for others, but when it came to her own well-being, she found it […]

Shared journeys

Hi, A bit of a personal post today. I met someone for lunch. I’ll can call her* W, (* as in a non-trans lady ) and while I think it’s unlikely she’ll ever read this, I’ll extend the same courtesy of anonymity to W, as I do to the Ever Lovely Mrs J, Wee Man and Little Miss. For any of you wondering if this may take a salacious turn, may I be the first to disappoint and say neither of us are from The Fens, so it’s not like that ;-P W had made no secret of her struggle against the Black Dog. While we’d had a few shortish chats over t’interwebs, I don’t know about you, but I […]

Standing up to the fear

Hi, There’s a bit of recurring theme when it comes to Friday night’s blog. During the week, I store up ideas for things to write about, or rifle through my stash on drier weeks, and yet, oftentimes, I find myself staring at this empty white box. Not stuck for something to say, but running a monologue, trying to find a way to start the conversation – such that it is – and get going. It seems, as I read in a writing tips newsletter, to just ‘have at it’ – well, it was International Talk Like a Pirate Day, last week – and get going. As per, that seems to have done the trick. Umm… yarrr? 🙂 Part One There […]

The sum of our years

Hi, Once more into the Blogger interface, dear friends, once more….. and then…. your brain goes… meh. At least, that’s what seems to happen to me. Some days I’ve got loads to say and other times…? Well, it takes a little while for the old noggin to wake up. Ooo. Listen, what’s that? Sounds like the 8.48pm train from Ideasville calling in. Interviews It’s been an odd week for interviews. On the one hand, I’ve had the good fortune to have a telephone interview with an agency. They rang me up after seeing my LinkedIn profile. Honestly, does anyone have a LinkedIn profile for any other reason than to pimp their CV and hope to get head hunted? 🙂 I’m […]

“If ever I would stop thinking about music and politics”

Or more accurately, gender politics….. not that I’m particularly politically active. I guess I’m just not 100% content with the current two party system. 🙂 Sh**! I’m the LibDem option of gender! 🙂 Too late to say hi? Hello, it is then. It has been a rather eventful week and pretty much all in a good way. Well, mostly, but we’ll come to that later on. Stop Press! After last week’s dysphoric disco of distress I would like to report that I had a very good day today. That may not mean much in the great scheme of life, but to Yours Truly, it means a great deal. There was no rush to school – it’s the Easter holidays – and the […]

“Too much is not enough.
Nobody said this stuff makes any sense,
We’re hooked again.”

Hi, How’s it going with you? Me? Oh, a bit of a strange week – or perhaps more accurately, one of highs and lows. On the positive side, I’ve managed to pretty much clear my work do list and I’ve really managed to crack on with a few personal projects too. All good stuff really and unlike some work activities, they’ve been quite fun to do…. which makes a nice change! 😉 As it’s my birthday this coming week (yay me, but also a scary number. Eeek!), the Ever Lovely Mrs Jones has been kind enough to book us a cottage somewhere quiet. Plus my in-laws (outlaws?) have kindly offered to look the nippers…. as said offspring will be at […]
