Small mercies

Hi, Ooo, it’s the magic of a Friday night. The whole weekend stretched out before you in a seemingly endless swathe of possibilities. Well, maybe not actually endless, we are socially distancing still and lots of things are still closed 🙂 Midweek, the good folk who run the Community Centre where Chams meets got in touch. It send that as the government start to relax lockdown – I think I’m with the scientists on this – the Centre is preparing to reopen. That certainly stressed the word preparing and so will I. As much as I would love to see everyone again, be outside in the beautiful Spring sunshine, and being pretty once again, I think we may have a […]

Good things each day

Hi, Longtime readers may remember me starting a Memory Jar and a subsequent switch to a gratitude journal. I think the jar idea came from Pandora – oh, the former blogger, not the jewellery shop 😉 The idea behind either is you take time to write down the good things that have happened and pop the note in. I loved the idea of the Memory Jar and the Ever Lovely Mrs J and I spent a happy hour reflecting on those one Christmas long ago. Wise as she is beautiful, Mrs J asked why wait a year? Hmm, why indeed, I reflected… and then I switched to a journal app to see A) if this might work, B) if I’d […]

Helping in little ways

Hi, After a week or two of zero trans related activity, two things come along at once. If it helps, feel free to imagine a pair of Clapham omnibus rolling in. Tickets ready? Ding ding! 🙂 Bus 1 Earlier in the week, it was time for a training event in Nottingham. I’d arranged it some time ago and managed to squeeze it in my lunch hour. I try not to swing the lead too much when I’m at work. I may not have the best record for timekeeping, but I like to think I put my all in when I’m in. Well, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it! 😉 I called just before setting off to make sure everything […]

Recharging

Hi, Earlier today I was out at lunch, walking through the leafy suburb of West Bridgford. Given that it was Chameleons last night (woo!), I make the short journey over in the car to pay the group’s money into the bank. Not that the walk lets me people watch and chance to pop into my favourite fancy sandwich shop. I should add this is *after* I’ve paid the money in, not before. 😉 As I walked back I stopped by a jewelry shop to pick something up for the Ever Lovely Mrs J. Give it a few weeks and we’ll have been married 20 years. I don’t say this as a brag, but with thanks and gratitude. I’m thankful for […]

Fun raising

Hi, Funny how life goes sometimes. A few months ago, I was rather busy at work, rushing to various presentations and finding the day zipping by quickly. At home, things were calm and yet, a few weeks later, matters have swapped around. Last night we ran a StartUp September event at Chams. This was part bring & buy, to advice session. Along with a few others, I think I was on my feet (in heels) for two, possibly three hours (Maths isn’t my strong point. Ask me one on accessorising 🙂 ). Perhaps I should have gone with the slightly lower posh office style shoes, but hey ho, lessons learned 🙂 I’d bought two boxes of clothes, shoes, jewelry, and […]
