Hi, One of the things you have to do as blogger, is empty out the spam bin. The refuse and dregs. I’m hoping that the business is all a scam I mean, is there an office someplace in the sketchy part of town? Badly lit and wedged between a takeaway that lives in fear of a health visit, and an unknown shop hidden behind a graffitied cheap steel shutter. Imagine going in and taking a look at the special offers. Hey, look at this. They’re offering to put a million plus emails out… Oh, uh… The small print says that the AI systems will stop most and… Wait is this right? If my message does get through, it might be […]

Building sites

Hi, I am thankful that it’s the weekend. Not that this week has been stressful or hard. I think, it overdid it a little last weekend concentrating on building the new Nottingham Chameleons web site. Yes, two late nights (nearly 2am. Tsk. When will I learn!) on Friday and Saturday, meant I wasn’t fully recharged for the week ahead. Still, my own fault, but I’m done now. “If you build it, they will come…” Chameleons had been using a free forum hosting company for just over a decade and the service had been great. Then one day, pop, it vanished. Not a peep from the hosting company. The whole lot just vanished in an instant. Quickly, we set up a […]

Back to the 80s

Hi, I was going to say, the calendar has fallen funny. But, that would make the opening paragraph, seem in need of a thunk, clunk or other onomatopoeia. Frankly, with that last term, it’s just showing off and there’s just no need. Wait… Oh, pants. 🙂 So, yeah, the calendar’s…. distribution of days, has meant that it’s a while yet until Chams. As I missed last times, part of me was thinking I’d be tapping my feet and counting down the days (as is Susie). Oddly, that isn’t happening. Reasons to be cheerful, eh? Talking of cheerful, the Jones Massive, are now back in the digital world. Earlier in the week, a certain driver ran into the small green box, that […]

What price privacy?

Hi folks, Unusually for me, I’ve been away this week. I don’t tend to travel much with work, well, other than the occasional short journey between offices. This time, however, a work-mate and I were off down south for a two day technical workshop. It was very good to be both out of the office, and doing my old job: that of designing solutions and making things better. Much better than making things more complicated, but that’s by the by. My overnight bag was, oddly, considerably smaller than the Thursday night bag I usually take. Just a shirt, some smalls, spare trousers and a wash kit. Compare that to the Full Mary that gets packed – nay, crammed? – into […]

The case of the ironic applause

Hi, After last week’s post about music, I’ve been wandering YouTube’s dusty halls of albums of yesteryear. It’s a strange journey. One that takes you through disbelief (geez, did I actually buy this?), guilty pleasures to happy days and old favourites. A lot of the earlier stuff seemed to be rather shouty, but maybe that was the era. 🙂 There certainly didn’t seem to be much of a pattern, but then, I think that’s like the best things in life. Here’s to eclectic. Is this how middle age starts? You start looking back, rather than being in the now – whatever that is… ?Would it be wrong to say hashtag down-with-the-kidz?! 🙂 Frankly, if “the now” is X Factor and […]
