Hi, Another midweek post? Well, why not. It’s not like we’re getting out of the house 😁 Yes, it’s been a rather lovely long weekend at Jones Towers. I hope you had a good break too. Given the change in the weather I decided to buy some new sandals. Not fancy ones, but some bloke ones. I did get 20% off which I cool, so I’m waiting on the delivery. I did look at what was on offer in the nicer rails, but given the lockdown and a wider collection of heels, wedges, ballerina pumps, and boots: I decided against it. Excluding some garden wellies, I think I’ve got three pairs of bloke shoes. Some ankle boots, a pair of […]

A series of fortunate events

Hi, It’s been a bit of an iffy week if I’m being honest. A right old riot of negative emotions chucked into the tumble dryer and given a long spin. At least, that’s how it felt. I should stress – and we may come back to that word -that it wasn’t anything serious. It was, what I like to call, some Work Toss. Things that really don’t matter in the big picture, but that somehow get under your skin. I guess, and maybe like a lot of folk, I don’t like doing things I’m clueless about. Yes, I’ll try leaving my comfort zone, but heading into something I just don’t get (like maths or the offside rule) really isn’t my […]

Funshine

Hi, Despite somehow catching a cold in summer and the lengthy downpours, the British Weather is having a final throw of the dice for sun, wispy white clouds, and pale blue skies. Put away your opaques and boots, break out the sandals and fancy tops one more time 🙂 For whatever reason I had a sting of dysphoria at the start of the week, resulting in a shoe purchase as medication. Like many material purchases, it’s the search that distracts, not the purchased goods. I think I know that you should aim for experiences, not possessions. Still, when you’re on the work-home-work-home treadmill, sneaking in some T time isn’t always easy. It seems that in times of dysphoric dissonance, I fall […]

Post

Hi, If there’s one thing blogging has taught me, it’s that I can’t predict what people will comment on. You may think that after bashing away at the keys, at least weekly for the last ten years, that I’d have more of an inkling…. But, no. So, I’m curious, when you don’t comment, why is that? Dad Duties This week gone I’ve been holding the fort as the Ever Lovely Mrs J has been away on business. Granny J has been over to help pick the kids up twice, as that’s really helped. Especially as work has become rather busy. Still, at least the day goes quickly. So, no visit to Chams this week for Yours Truly. I did wonder […]

Being Dad

Hello dear reader, This week has been somewhat unusual. Not just for me, but seemingly a large number of folk who’ve been following the American elections. What is the world coming to eh? I get that neither candidate was perfect and their faults, I guess, are very much in the eyes of the voter. That said, some of the outrageous things Trump said, you’d have been sacked from most jobs over here. I can only hope that the piss & fire was mostly for show, and his term will be far quieter. Failing that, anyone who’s had the sheer rudeness* of not being born white, straight and male, may be in for a rough ride… and frankly, that’s wrong. I […]
