Rocks

Hi, There are days in which I feel I’m carrying a bag of rocks. I’m not sure how they get in, but there they are. Lumpy black and brown, rough-hewn shapes that clack and grind against each other. I don’t remember picking any up, but I notice the extra weight when doing any mental or emotional heavy lifting. There are times when I forget about the bag, and it rests on the ground, sullen and silent, biding the time in which it knows what distracting activity I’m in will end at some point. Lunch in the sunshine, laughing with a friend, or being lost in the moment: in all of those things, the bag is forgotten. Not empty, just ignored. […]

When things feel natural

Hi, Well, that’s the first week of work in the bag and frankly, I’m glad it’s over. The Ever Lovely Mrs J once said that she didn’t mind a dull job, provided the people were nice. Well, for me in the last month or so, the work’s been interesting, but some of the folk involved have been… tedious. I will spare you the full-on work rant because I know the project will draw to a close soon, and I doubt you come here to read about my employment woes 😉 The short version is: if you’re going to be an arse, expect people won’t go the extra mile. So, trans stuff. Last night was Chameleons, so it felt good t […]

Greener grass

Hi, Ah, the long Easter weekend is upon us. Let’s hear it for bank holiday breaks and two weeks off with the kids. Well, not that I’m off for two weeks; chance would be a fine thing 😉 Antisocial Media It’s been an odd week in that last Friday I took the decision to remove Facebook from my smartphone. The allegations around data use by various third parties have been rumbling for a while, but I think it was that Friday when something finally clicked in my head. Wittier folk may like to think that someone clicked the ‘dislike’ button, but I’m not sure I’ve the energy for that gag. 😉 So, why the change? Now, I’m a social creature […]

Planning

Hi, In an effort to get a little more exercise, and to get our two lovely dogs to be a bit calmer, in the evenings, I took them out on a walk through the local countryside. Sure, we may not have a regular bus service, any local shop and the Internet connectivity could be a little zippier. But, the scenery sure is nice. Nothing but fields, rolling hills and woodland. Yay for autumn. Cool weather, the leaves begin to turn and we begin the slow trip through monthly celebrations, as we move to Christmas. All, reasons to be thankful. The wood now has had a new public footpath put in, so we’re legally free to wander through, and down across […]

Step away from the pie

Hi, To tell, or not to tell? That is the question. Let’s give this record another spin. 🙂 With apologies to the Bard, the above is a question that floats around my noggin from time to time. Perhaps, more accurately, you could ask, out or closet? I remember a news report about a researcher who revealed all of his secrets, on the basis that no one could hold anything over him, if he was totally open about his past. So, why this thought now? Not that you asked 😉 With the Ever Lovely Mrs J’s folks house-sitting, or Wee Man staying home alone (yeah, he’s grown up quickly), I wonder, if either party are looking for something, if my extra […]
