Remembering

The Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR), also known as the International Transgender Day of Remembrance, has been observed annually (from its inception) on November 20 as a day to memorialize those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia. Wikipedia

Sunshine in rain

Hi, With it being half-term, the Ever Lovely Mrs J, myself, and Child 2.0 have a time away from the usual. For C2, it was a much needed break from school and a chance to unwind. Likewise, I had a few days off and I was somewhat surprised at how many days I’ve had an afternoon nap on. I guess I needed to top my proverbial batteries back. I’m pretty sure I read something about the Mediterranean approach to sleeping in the day, being very beneficial. I do wonder what would a working day be like, if, hypothetically, a person had full say on how and when they worked. I’m not complaining, just speculating on how that might play out […]

It’s been a while

Hi, This Thursday will be the first meeting for Chameleons this year. It’s been a long winter and the Easter Weekend’s snow seemed Nature’s last hurrah after lulling is into spring clothing the week before. I do love the gap between the actual seasons and the marketing guff that powers the fashion industry. Sleeves reced and opaques vanish as it’s time to shift into the white and navy palettes…. as the hail batters the windows 😁 Nothing puts me in the mood to buy a summer dress than when it’s just above freezing 😛 However, there’s plenty of things to be mixed, matched, and mulled over before Thursday night. Casual or corporate? Dress or jeans? Heels or sandals? It’s all […]

TDoV 2021

Hi, On March 31st each year it’s the international Transgender Day of Visibility. Unlike the day of remembrance later in the year, today is a today to talk about the achievements of our community. I think it is worth noting that to those of you on the transgender spectrum and allies as well, have a moment to reflect on your achievements. I don’t say this to butter you up with false praise, but that small acts of kindness and perhaps more than ever this year, being present is a form of activism. Equally, if you are helping someone else – be they trans, a friend of someone, or a would-be ally – you are doing excellent work. It all counts […]

Since 2006

Hi, While I was looking through photos for another A Look Back post, I stumbled on a reference to my first visit to Chameleons. By all that’s fabulous, that’s 2006. Yikes. Two meetings a month, give or take, for the last umpteen years or so. I try not to look at the time in not in Lynn mode. Partly because I am a part timer, but mainly as I think if you look at the time you’re not doing whatever, it’s a less than positive outlook. Maybe we’re back to the old adage, what you think you don’t have, makes you miserable. Perhaps that explains why I don’t think of Me Time as a thing. Partly because it suggests of […]

A million butterfly wings

Hi, Well, I think we can safely say that 2020 was as much year to remember, as one we’d like to forget. 🙂 I am hopeful that you’ve escaped the worst of this year, be they issues around health (mental and/or physical), employment, or other matters. Looking back to last January, the idea of that there would be a global pandemic seemed incredulous…. and yet, here we are. One might say that we are where we are because some folk have decided not to believe the evidence or science, but then we’d be into a discussion on society and politics. Moving on…. 😉 This post has been somewhat tricky to write. How do you sum up all that’s happened this […]
