TDOV 2026

Hi, Ah, the occasional and somewhat rare midweek post 🙂 Every year on 31st March, we celebrate a Trans Day of Visibility across the world. I will not go into the nonsense and hate we’re currently experiencing as a community – frankly, there’s not the time, and secondly we see enough of the Useful Idiots being platformed on and by the media. Ragefarming, anyone? 🙄 For those of out & about today, congratulations and thank you. For those of you not up to much today, may I say that’s okay too? It’s not always easy to do so – home, family, health, and/or work commitments, etc. It may be that you, like me, don’t have the opportunity to do so. […]

Twenty years later

Hi, As I write this, I hear the slow turn and slosh of the washing machine. A large coffee cools to my left and I have the morning to myself. Something had nagged at the back of my head as I got up. It wasn’t an appointment, a med collection for the Ever Lovely Mrs J, nor an interview. I checked my phone’s diary – or the Don’t-Forget-This-Important-Thing-O-Matic as I don’t, but probably should call it – no, nothing in there either. Hmm. Nothing’s popping, so I will get on with the usual morning routine of feeding the hounds, taking Child 2.0 to school, a few chores, and remembering to put the bins – Ah. My blogiversary. That was it! […]

The Slow Outing Club

Hi, With Autumn half-term upon us, the Ever Lovely Mrs J and Child 2.0 decided on a last minute trip for a few days. They’re both now back, safe & well, having enjoyed their roadtrip to some historic sites down south. Muggins here, stayed home to look after the hounds, and as my snoring isn’t great when we share a room; ensure my lovely partner and teen get a good rest. But how might I pass the time, home alone, once the dogs are walked and the morning chores sorted? Well, I wonder 😉 Getting ready As I was on my Todd yesterday, I had a rare gift of not being in bloke gear, and needing to get changed. Instead […]

Good luck getting a pace on

Hi, How are you, dear reader? Hopefully okay. I was going to comment about the the most foul stench that blew in to the country this week, but I dare say, you’re probably as tired of the weather reports as I am. Shall we just move on to nice news? 🙂 Jobs, yo Still working on the job applications at the mo, although Wee Man – the cheeky wee chap – has started to hassle me. This is because he’s landed himself a job, and now feels he can hassle his old man about it! 😁 Well, you’ve got to take the opportunity when you can eh? This is his first gig, and I’m really proud of him for stepping […]

More T, please

Hi, Continuing with the beverage related puns, you may wish to prepare a beverage of your choice, get comfy; this might be a bit of a long one 🙂 Pride 2025 After last year’s first visit, I was keen to go again. Partly for Child 2.0 as I’m his dad, partly for me, and partly for the community. The latter being trans folk and Nottingham Chameleons. No, I did not go in Lynn Mode, but perhaps there’s something in a middle aged white bloke wanting support for a community he doesn’t necessarily look like he’s part of. Well – books, covers, judgement, etc 😉 I’m not a person of colour, I’m not disabled, I’m not gay, and I’m not female […]

Do. Not. Look. Other.

Hi, Okay, I am not going to leave today’s post until my brain fails, and I’m left thinking…. well, not actually thinking. Just ‘muh’, which is a close cousin of ‘meh’, but is decidely more switched off. The lights are on, etc. ‘Ucknull This week the BBC released the dramatisation of Paris Lees’ book, What It Feels Like For A Girl. It’s available on iPlayer and yes, I’ve just finished watching it. It is… quite the ride and certainly one not for certain auidences – perhaps despite the lead character, Bryon’s, young years of fifteen when we first meet him. The cast, writing, and production are amazing, and – if I may – this shines through even in the harrowing […]
