A look back – February

Hi, How’s the week been for you? Hopefully things have gone well given all that’s going on. Listening to a few friends – trans and otherwise – it seems winter has been a bit of a slog. The continued lockdown, the cold, and the drudge back into work. On the upside, it’s been half term for us at Chez Jones, so I’m very grateful for the week off. Oddly, in still sat in the living room, going on pretty much the same dog walks, and buying lunch from the Co-op. 😁 But, I’m not at work, so I’m free to have a later start to the day. Plus, the Ever Lovely Mrs J and I are free to have longer […]

A look back: January

Hi, With the ever decreasing temperature, snow, and rain, shall we take a moment to ignore the cold and chill in another sense? 🙂 In last week’s post I mentioned I’d had a look through the photo archives. It seems age and weight gain help soften one’s features, even if you lose eye shape definition 😉 Outfit 20 was a new top bought in the sales and in rather linng the coloured pattern. To think, COVID19 was working its way into the population and we’d yet to really react to the situation. In 19 that’s a top donated by the Ever Lovely Mrs J and I think I was aiming for work smart. A much cherished rose dress appears in […]

A look back: November

Hi, A month where we stand between the clearance of Halloween gubbins and the smoke from Bonfire Night drifts away. The clocks have gone back, so the dark creeps closer into the day. Time then perhaps, to make the most of time outside and get an eyeful of the light when possible. That and enjoy the cosy styles that would stifle in warmer months. Shall we take a look through Novembers of yesteryear? 🙂 The opening graphic of a recoloured graphic brings me a wry smile when I see it. Not just for the sight subversion, but as a kid who liked comics (2000AD if you’re curious), so seeing something that’s inclusive -even if I tweaked the original – is […]

A look back – October

Hi, Despite the global pandemic, insanity of certain world leaders, the world continues to turn. True, slightly warmer and wetter going by reports, but we are still here. So it is that the season turn and the path on my lunchtime walk is now peppered with fallen leaves. Thinning branches hold on to a dwindling canopy, but the gaps to a pale sky competes with the blaze of rich autumn colours. A lazy Summer day is nice, but I’m not one for hot weather. Spring is welcome after the long Winter, but it’s Autumn that’s in my heart. The darkening days, cooler temperatures, more agreeable fashions, and the long steady drift through half-term and slow-then-rush to Christmas. With cooler weather […]

A look back: September

Hi, The sun sets on the long break and it’s back to school. Bah humbug. Ah well. Hopefully it was fun while it lasted kids. Talking of going back, another month rolls by and it’s time to take a flick through the posts of September’s gone. Compared to the heat of summer, this first step into Autumn is when I seem to come into my own. L19: A trip out to talk to a youth group about trans identities. In a rare twist, I’d gone in Lynn mode and my abiding memory – other than how accepting and interested the staff were – was how at ease I felt. It was… very natural. Perhaps just a regular person running an […]

A look back – August

Hi, So, midway through 2020, huh? How many shopping days until Christmas and when will Easter Eggs be available? 😛 As another month rolls by in a cycle of rinse and repeat home office malarkey. Shall we flick through the YATGB photo album? 🙂 In 19 that pretty top was a hand-me-down from the Ever Lovely Mrs J. I struggle a bit with picking a pattern, but the monochrome on this is something I love. I notice that jeans and leggings feature quite heavily this time of year. They’re one way to not get too hot and also hide the Wookie pins. 😉 Taking of jeans, I really don’t like those straight leg ones in 11. That may explain why […]
