Wharm

Hi, No, not an oddly named Wham tribute act, but one of those quirks of dialect. See also “it’s a bit code” (cold). I’ve said before that I’m not a hot weather person, so these last few days of the May Heatwave have not been ideal. Thankfully keeping the curtains drawn against the sun, early pre breakfast doggo walks, and avoiding the worst of the afternoon have paid off. Readers from hotter climes – without aircon – may wish to utter “you soft bogger” 😉 Talking of aircon, last year we bought a portable unit for the Ever Lovely Mrs J. Her health conditions and medications mean that she really struggles with the heat. With upstairs taking the brunt of […]

Ignoring the stream of negativity

Hi, After last week’s micro-wobble, a visit to Chams to see friends and some time out of ‘bloke mode’ has done me a world of good. Funny that such a simple thing – well, I say simple! – helps me settle and become comfortable again. I suppose that “birds of a feather” phrase, in that it’s people who get it, and who understand. No need to keep the proverbial mask on, and conversations flows naturally, with no second guessing. Maybe a shorter phrase would be authenticity 🙂 But, this all this helps. Reasons indeed to be thankful. Self Care At the start of the week, I tried a bit of self-care to help push the cobwebs away, and let in […]

Colour me happy

Hi, Ah, hello Long Weekend! Well, for we part-timing part-timers, every weekend is a long one. It may sting in the wallet, but it feels good in the soul 🙏 Ah, there’s a nice dose of Posiblogging! 🥰 Today’s post will be very much What Happened At Chams. I mean, we could talk about a lying liar who lies, and why a certain result didn’t matter to them. But who wants to hear about liars? Well, except when they’re caught out 😉 Let’s move on! Cue big queues I was a little later setting off that usual on Thursday night. Not by any great amount, but – like the school run and the rush hour – the wrong fifteen minutes […]

Quiet moments

Hi, As a break to the usual writing – if you can call blogging that 🙂 – I’m sat in a café, enjoying the ambience and an oat milk mocha. Being partly Scots means I’m powered by oats and being one of those horrible woke people who care about cows, I’ve trying to reduce my dairy intake over the last few years. Sometimes, I think there’s a cheeky gift from finding a spot of quiet during the week’s hustle and bustle. Not that things have been difficult or taxing, yet the days have gone quickly of late. I remember someone saying with a wink, to a colleague who was retiring: “you’ll never be busier”. Perhaps it’s like your monetary budget, […]

Brainfizz

Hi, Tis a funny thing this blogging lark. There are times when no thoughts come and the whitespace sits empty. Usually, I have to – like now – just go at it, and that seems to break the ice, and off we go. Conversely, there are times – early – where my brain is on overspin. So many ideas come at once that it’s like trying to pick out a sock in a busy tumblerdrier. Again, it’s necessary to break out of the resting while busy in thought and just start. Ah, to find that balance of creativity *and* focus, therein is the magic. Still, at least this week’s goblin is rich in thought and their hair is looking F […]

Fabocalypse

Hi, How’s things? Hopefully good and if not, moving that way soon. There’s another winter storm blowing at the mo, so please take care if you’re out and about. It’s been a full week so my battery is somewhat flat. Still, it’s the weekend, so a chance to rest and catch-up with a few activities. Zapped Talking of batteries – proverbial and technical – there was a slight caffeine related issue at last night’s Chams. Val was kind enough to make some hot drinks and what we both thought was decaffeinated coffee wasn’t. I did wonder why I had more energy mid evening! 😁 Now, for your coffee fiends out there 😉 this is probably no issue. For folk like […]
