I’ve said before that I’m not a hot weather person, so these last few days of the May Heatwave have not been ideal. Thankfully keeping the curtains drawn against the sun, early pre breakfast doggo walks, and avoiding the worst of the afternoon have paid off.
Readers from hotter climes – without aircon – may wish to utter “you soft bogger” 😉
Talking of aircon, last year we bought a portable unit for the Ever Lovely Mrs J. Her health conditions and medications mean that she really struggles with the heat. With upstairs taking the brunt of the sun, it’s often 5°C hotter than the daytime.
Part of me is wondering if improved insulation and solars panels would help take the worst off. Might also be good for our energy use too.
With the hot weather spiking on Thursday, I was … well, if I’m honest, frustrated. I was looking forward to getting out of my bloke gear, but it was not to be, sadly.
Maybe rather than shapewear I should make a water cooled underbust long corset? Mind you, plugging into the tap might be limiting and a giveaway 😁
However, despite the lack of fanciness on my part, the rest of the Chams folk were looking very summery. Indeed, Val’s summer maxi dress was very pretty indeed.
There was a lot of laughter and shared joy that night. Stevie’s birthday plans are coming together nicely for them, we had a new member visit for their first time, and the regulars were certainly on form in the humour stakes.
The good news is we have rearranged the June meeting to be earlier – next week in a fact. Useful in that it’s cooler then and as Val & I both have stuff on the week after, we’d have struggled to open up for the night.
Looking on the bright side, there’s an opportunity to be me next week, so just a case of ignoring the gentle ticking of the transometer ratcheting up.

I cannot believe that none of your regular readers has not yet commented how good you look in this week’s photo and how you have completely blended in. A true credit to a Chameleon and Nottingham. As for me, shucks, indeed it was a pretty dress ( if only the wearer could have matched it) and only £2 at a local charity shop. Indeed.
Ha ha! 😁 You’re right, Val, that photo is very much both blending and passing goals. Certainly guaranteed to be ignored while out & about 😉
On a different note, I thought the dress looked fab on you, and at two quid – what a bargain and keeper!
I’m sorry about the Heat Dome that’s affected you as I know hot weather is not your thing. Personally, I don’t tolerate cold so I’m safe now! I don’t know about cold corsets but you can definitely get ice bras and ice pack inserts for bras which are filled with water/gel and you put them in the freezer before use. If you wear them for ten minutes morning and night, it’s supposed to firm up your breasts, or provide cold relief e.g. after breastfeeding ( but I suspect you’re not suffering from that). From heat domes to cold domes in one easy move!
It’s odd that when it’s cold Mankind has developed many ways of keeping warm, but we’re still struggling when it’s hot. Sorry that it affected you chance to dress so I hope next week’s opportunity materialises.

Luckily Chams HQ has air conditioning in the meeting room. So once you’re out of the car or changed in the (rather warm) changing room, you can cool off at least.
Jumping back to the solar panel & home insulation, a reversible heat pump would let you cool in the summer and warm up in winter. Expensive outlay, though.
Not heard of ice bras, although I do know a friend who lived in Australia would put their bedding in the fridge during the day.
It was rather warm, to say the least, last week. My Wife suffers badly in the heat too, so it’s always difficult. I managed to dress in a nice loose kaftan, but it was definitely the hottest conditions I have dressed in. Hopefully your feeling a little cooler this week.

I’ve seen a few people out in kaftans last weekend. I did find I was needing antichafing shorts, as my bloke long shorts weren’t stopping that. They did help keep me a bit cooler, though.
