Hi,
Well, this is the all new, singing & dancing WordPress edition, so if things are a bit off key – that’s me not quite getting my head around the changes 🙂
Chams & Calendars
By a quirk of fate, Val and I are both unable to attend Chams on the first meeting in June. For insurance & hire purposes, only two of us have a key to lock up, so shuffling things around seemed the right choice.
After asking the group what they wanted to do – cancel, move forward, postpone – they all voted to bring the meeting earlier. Cue a chat with the Centre Manager.
That’s now sorted, which means it’s just a case of letting folk know. The forum and website have been updated. Plus, we’ve a proper meeting this week coming. Main thing is, altering alerting people, so no one turns up when we’re shut.
School, dazed
Child 2.0 had their Leavers Assembly this week. They do have a couple of exams to finish, but they are almost out of school now.
That’ll mean it’s the long summer holiday for them, a case of waiting for the results, and deciding about their university choice.
C2 is a very smart cookie – like their mum, the Ever Lovely Mrs J – so I’ve every faith they’ll do well. I hope so, because they’ve really put the effort in, and they’ve got their heart set on going Oop North to study.
Given the news of around one of our local university’s cuts to staffing and courses, perhaps going to different institution will be a good thing.
Besides, they’re not too far away to visit at the weekend…. and bring their washing & empty food box 😉 No, I don’t mind sorting either ❤️ It’s amazing to see your kids grow up and flourish in the world.
Department of Doublespeak
This week sees the release of the exciting and crystal clear, guidance from Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC)…
Oh, who am I kidding! 😁
Given Child 2.0’s transition is underway, I give him a year until he’s sporting a beard you could provide sheltered accommodation to a set of badgers. Personally, I think he’ll do it just to show me up 😁
However! C2 can absolutely look forward to going into the ladies’ loo and causing TERFageddon. I mean, he was Assigned Female At Birth, so what’s his biological status? He’s got a bloke passport, no…but yes?
But I am, of course, covering old ground here and still, we have yet to see the warming rays of kindness and empathetic thought by the current administration. Section 28 Part 2; shame on you, Labour, shame on you. I feel you have lost your way and your soul.

Weekending
This weekend is a bank holiday, so I get Monday off. Coupled with Friday away from work, that’s quite a gap. Mind you, Friday wasn’t quite Put Your Feet Up, as I was helped Wee Man and partner prep for them moving later next month. Still, calories burned is good for the waistline.
Stop the shop
In summer news, I’m trying not to hyperfocus on getting just the right pair of nude sandals. It’s not like I don’t have a sparkly blue pair, funky chic boho pair, and a dark navy set either. Oh, and a v cute pair of blush pink Converse low cut trainers….
I’m just hoping it won’t be too hot on Thursday for Chams 🤞
One less thing to worry about
As I folded my jeans up and took out a pair of long shorts, two thoughts came to mind.
Firstly that with the hot weather coming, removing the nail polish on my toes wouldn’t be a bad idea. Plus, giving my nails a break might not be a bad thing. In days gone, I think I would’ve hung on as long as I could, fighting it even. I guess that was trying to hold on to a small expression of me, even in the heat of summer.
But that was then, not now, so it wasn’t upsetting… which I’ll gladly take as a win. Likewise, in knowing my pins don’t need to ReWookie when they’re at their most visible. My forearms too are suitably denuded, so that helps dispel dysphoria.
With all the above, they add up to the absence of anguish, and where there’s no pain, there’s room for contentment…. maybe even sparks of queer joy.

“Main thing is, altering people, so no one turns up when we’re shut.” Hey, drastic situations need drastic measures. We may be harsh but at least we’re fair. LOL As it happens, the guy who invented automated spellchecking died last week. His funfair will be hello on Sundial.
Silliness aside, good luck to Child 2.0 with the final papers and wishing them the best of results. The last summer hols of school are always a weird limbo time but if said candidate can get away for a good bit, that really helps recharge after all the hard work and take the mind off speculation on results, uni, etc. which you can’t do anything about for a few weeks till the papers are marked.
Good luck with everything else. For as long as the UK continues to kowtow to the Loony Right and fawn before the Farages and the Murdochs and the Rees-Moggs, which it has been doing for ten years, it is not going to get out of the mess it’s in. The issue is far wider than just the trans (and immigrant) scapegoat.
I have a love/hate relationship with Abigail Thorn – she was more authentic before her transition IMHO, basically just sharing her first-class degree knowledge and insights for free, but now that she’s got a slick production team and is a sexy clothes horse, her output lacks the honest immediacy of the old stuff. But she is a very eloquent and genuine advocate for humanity, so well done to her for the recognition.
Have a lovely weekend. I hear from others how hot it is there so take care. Wishing you well with that elusive pair of sandals … oh, when you’ve got what you want in your mind’s eye but the retailers just won’t co-operate! 😉

Whoops on the missed error. 🫣 I hear the spell check person’s funeral was delayed, as the service before was for the inventor of the dance, the Okey Cokey. Trouble started when his left fell out…. 😉 You get the gist.
Ha, The Looney Right – you’re not wrong with that! I may take that away and reuse it later.
I hoping Child 2.0 will have some much needed relaxation after all if their hard work. They certainly put in the hours on the humanities. We’re hoping to get a break when he’s done and I think Mrs J is looking to get some summer city breaks in before the results.
I nearly found the right pair of shoes. However, at just under a 4″ heel I gave them a pass. Maybe when I was younger! Mind you, I tried some 2″ ones recently and they looked awful.
As to Ms Thorn, I’m only aware of her acting endeavours and writing. I know she does PhilosophyTube, but I’ve not really watched much. Odd, you’d think that would be my bag.
Well, there’s been a Loony Left for decades, so why not a Loony Right? I guess you lose the alliteration, though. So how about the Raving Right?
Sue xx
Raving Right seems accurate given the rage farming and FUD* being thrown around. It did seem to be “so-and-so group are coming to take away your blah”. Typically with the ‘only we can stop them’ BS. Meanwhile, the backhand is out of sight and accepting monies.
( * Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt )
Maybe the Not Right (UnRight? 🤔) given the love of fear over facts. Or excitement over evidence…. but always avoid another additional alteration 😉
