Little things

Hi, Today I had the pleasure of some self-care and a morning without anywhere to rush to. Yay for a nonworking day and a stroll through the park to my beauty appointment. Local stuff Well, no rush other than through the traffic, as Nottinghamshire seems to have all of its road upgrades at once 🙂 Not a complaint, given that traditionally, the East Midlands receives less funding on infrastructure and healthcare. However, the city has removed most of the old Broadmarsh shopping centre, and there’s a gorgeous urban park in there now. Work will start soon to remove the remaining concrete structure, and indeed the old multistorey that looms large over Maid Marion Way. The latter was our go to […]

The Tide

Hi, Ah, what to write about today eh, dear reader? Well, it’s not going to be the news because I’m still not reading it. 😐 Apparently there’s been some sports thing involving lots of running about and a ball. I know that doesn’t narrow things down because a lot of sport seems to do with one or both of those requirements. Okay, except archery or shooting, but I find it wise not to rib folk who can assassinate you at a distance. 😉 Umm, not that anyone who excels at such a sport would do such a thing. They’re very lovely people! 😁 Okay, so flippancy aside… Oh, and I was going to call this ratcheting, but apparently that – […]

Serendipity, I guess

Hi, As I write this, I’m sat on the dog sofa* enjoying the cooling breeze from the garden. No bifold doors as we’re old school. The sun is mostly behind the high trees from the neighbour uphill, so it’s an absolute joy to enjoy the greenery, birdsong, and slow time. ( * If you have hounds, technically all sofas become dog sofas 😉 ) Under one of the hedges, a blackbird is flicking the fallen leaves around, looking for insects. I do need to get around to trimming the brambles that have built up, but that’s not a hot weather job. I’ll absolutely need some sturdy protection against those thorns. The washing is already done and hung up in the […]

The time between

Hi, I was going to start off by making a wisecrack about being a genderfluid person who’s been struck in one gender for too long. However, it feels a bit meh, given there are many folk who get significantly less freedom than I do. So – and despite me showing said quip, I think it’s better to count my blessings and enjoy what I have. For a start, this week’s been pretty good and the cooler – but still summery – weather has been very pleasant. Child 2.0 continues to sort out the red tape around higher education, and he’s enjoying a very laid back long break. He’s certainly earned it, after all the exams and coursework. Friday Give or […]

The all important downtime

Hi, How’s things? Hopefully good and if not, fingers crossed they’re moving that way soon. A break With Child 2.0 having finished their A Levels and indeed school, the Ever Lovely Mrs J suggested the idea of an early summer holiday. Given our collective needs around travel and those of our lovely doggos, a holiday in the UK was certainly on the cards. TBH, that suits me to a tee, given I don’t like airports or long travel journeys. The search began in North Wales and much was said about various holiday locations and Anglesey was very popular…. so how we fell upon the Peoples’ Republic of Yorkshire, I’m unsure 🤔 but very grateful 💖 We’ve had the pleasure of […]

Cooler

Hi, Cooler in mindset, weather, and outlook, that is. I’ll let you decide on the outfit – although I did feel rather pretty in it 🙂 It’s been a busy week. Not one to complain about, indeed the opposite. Things done, IT stuff achieved, and all things moving in the right direction. I guess with using the old noggin a fair bit, you can get that mental tiredness. That and Monday was a long day due to travel. I think that threw me a little. In terms of home stuff, Child 2.0 has completed their last two exams, so that’s all of their A Levels completed and they are officially no longer in school. It feels very much like a […]
