Pocketses

Hi, The difficult thing about writing a blog entry – and I should add, IMO 🙂 – is getting started. It seems to be an either/or of having nothing in the tank, or the overly full shopping bag that’s wobbling about on the backseat. Today seems very much the latter metaphor. If you just give me a mo, I’ll try to make it to the proverbial table, and bring matters to rest. Right, that’s that metaphor well and truly tortured 😉 Let’s get on with this week’s gibbering eh? 🙃 Nails At my last appointment to the beautician – yes, make your own jokes about they’ve got their work cut out or I hope they get paid by the hour […]

Aide memoire

Hi, Is anyone feeling Christmasy yet? I don’t want to come across as Old Scrooge – or perhaps the Grinch, to US readers – but so far, the Xmas Magic has yet to arrive at Chez Jones. I hope getting the decorations up will help a little. Mind you, I’m looking forward to see our family come together. Other than that, we’re taking it pretty easy this year. What about you? A look back This won’t be the Look Back posts that I did during the lockdowns. However, while putting together last month’s anniversary post, it was – as per – some time after clicking publish, that I remembered I’d not included a certain photo. Well, possibly more: it depends […]

Twenty years later

Hi, As I write this, I hear the slow turn and slosh of the washing machine. A large coffee cools to my left and I have the morning to myself. Something had nagged at the back of my head as I got up. It wasn’t an appointment, a med collection for the Ever Lovely Mrs J, nor an interview. I checked my phone’s diary – or the Don’t-Forget-This-Important-Thing-O-Matic as I don’t, but probably should call it – no, nothing in there either. Hmm. Nothing’s popping, so I will get on with the usual morning routine of feeding the hounds, taking Child 2.0 to school, a few chores, and remembering to put the bins – Ah. My blogiversary. That was it! […]

A look back – February

Hi, How’s the week been for you? Hopefully things have gone well given all that’s going on. Listening to a few friends – trans and otherwise – it seems winter has been a bit of a slog. The continued lockdown, the cold, and the drudge back into work. On the upside, it’s been half term for us at Chez Jones, so I’m very grateful for the week off. Oddly, in still sat in the living room, going on pretty much the same dog walks, and buying lunch from the Co-op. 😁 But, I’m not at work, so I’m free to have a later start to the day. Plus, the Ever Lovely Mrs J and I are free to have longer […]

A look back: January

Hi, With the ever decreasing temperature, snow, and rain, shall we take a moment to ignore the cold and chill in another sense? 🙂 In last week’s post I mentioned I’d had a look through the photo archives. It seems age and weight gain help soften one’s features, even if you lose eye shape definition 😉 Outfit 20 was a new top bought in the sales and in rather linng the coloured pattern. To think, COVID19 was working its way into the population and we’d yet to really react to the situation. In 19 that’s a top donated by the Ever Lovely Mrs J and I think I was aiming for work smart. A much cherished rose dress appears in […]

A look back: November

Hi, A month where we stand between the clearance of Halloween gubbins and the smoke from Bonfire Night drifts away. The clocks have gone back, so the dark creeps closer into the day. Time then perhaps, to make the most of time outside and get an eyeful of the light when possible. That and enjoy the cosy styles that would stifle in warmer months. Shall we take a look through Novembers of yesteryear? 🙂 The opening graphic of a recoloured graphic brings me a wry smile when I see it. Not just for the sight subversion, but as a kid who liked comics (2000AD if you’re curious), so seeing something that’s inclusive -even if I tweaked the original – is […]
