To close the year

Hi, In the blur of family visits, long dog walks, streaming TV, and irregular mealtimes, the fact that this is the last Friday before the turn of the year – and indeed, decade – has slipped my mind. But last-minute and off the cuff is just how I roll at YATGB. 🙂 The year has been an interesting mix of news – both from a personal, family, and national perspective. I will spare you my views on the political landscape of the UK, as anything I write here is, I feel, unlikely to sway you if you’ve different views, and if your views are similar, it’s going to be an echo chamber. All I will say is that I hope […]

It’s a new day and a new site

Hi, If you’re reading this, you’ve somehow found your way to a new home for YATGB. I have tweaked the title a little in that it’s now Yet Another Transgender Blog. Back when I started writing, T-Girl was a term, although A) I’ve never been a girl, and B), maybe it’s time to update things a little. So, why the switch? Well, in honesty – because I try to keep it that way here – I’ve been thinking about updating the blog for a bit. Like with the social media exit earlier this year, there was no One Big Thing that made me want to jump. Instead, it was a series of little things that all added up. Things like: […]

Little Moments

Hi, It’s been a busy, almost frantic, last few days, but I’m feeling good about life. Friday has been a welcome and quiet cornerstone to the working week. A little too much travel and rushing between meetings meant Monday through to Thursday was a little too full on. Sure, it’s good to be busy. My Thursday night out went very well. Outfit wise I had a backup plan as well as a new full-length skirt and two not yet worn tops from last year’s summer sale. The skirt was also in the sale and had the added benefit of the Ever Lovely Mrs J’s blessing. Shopping can be cool, but shopping guilt free is even better in my book. 🙂 […]

Christmas Wishes

Hi, Well, what a great night last night was. Somehow, it all came together, and we had a grand old time. There was much laughter, plenty of smiles, sharing food & drink, plus dancing, and, well, being there for each other. I had, perhaps somewhat pointlessly, been worrying about making the Chams Christmas Party just so. I don’t know if it was because it was our last meeting of the year, or if I just wanted our lovely lot to get a good night as all of themselves. A little more fancy than plain tables With a few internet orders and a dash into the local pound shop in town. I was fixed for tablecloths, e-candles, and plastic cutlery. After […]

Decisions, decisions….

Hi, You know those days, or even weeks, where nothing seems to go right? Well, I’ve had the good fortune that it’s been quite the opposite. Is this vintage yet? After decades on the information not-so-super B road, fast broadband is finally coming to our neck of the woods! At Chez Jones, we’re rather excited about this, so fingers crossed it all goes well on installation day next month. The kids pretty much stream everything they watch these days, and on to tablets, rather than the telly. We shop on-line; I work from home when I can, and Wee Man writes and completes his homework online. Work has been challenging but my coworkers have really pulled the stops out to […]

Decade: then and now

Hi, Sometime last week, I was looking through old family photos. I rather enjoy seeing how the kids have grown up, and also remembering the holidays, trips out, or just general silliness, that, to me at least, go to make up your family history. A shared experience if you will. On a whim, I had a look at my stash of trans photos. Now, I don’t like having my photo taken. Or, more accurately, I don’t really like my photo being taken when I’m in Richard mode. Conversely, with the purchase of a digital camera – hey, remember those? 🙂 – I had the opportunity to take a regular snap of me. If, and I doubt this would see the […]
