Rurban therapy

Hi, If I had to pick a month that was my favourite, I think I’d have to say it was September. For me, it’s the slow turn to Autumn, but without the sharp cold, nor rain of the later months. The evening sky is beautiful and the heat of the summer has faded. There’s less to do in the garden, more the time to enjoy long, leisurely walks and, if you know where to look, to enjoy a spot of blackberrying, picking apples or collecting sloes (hello, Mr Gin!). I find picking blackberries a very relaxing pastime. Sure, there’s that slight frisson of worry that you’ll snag your trousers / top / hand, but I find that stops me drifting […]

Who watches the Watchmen?

Salutations dear reader, T-Stuff The dry spell has been broken. Whatever biological or mental (emphasis on the mental 😉 ) block was floating in my noggin, seems to have relented and off I went to Chams the other night. Strange, after those few weeks of being decidedly, well, meh, about the whole trans thing, my interest was piqued and I found myself wanting a little fabulous time out. And so, with the generous smile of the Fates, events conspired with me and all was well…. Well….. mostly. I almost put the kibosh on the whole gig, by giving myself a razor cut Sweeny Todd would have been proud of. There I was, enjoying a rather warm shower – the warmer, the […]

“Words like violence,
Break the silence,
Come crashing in,
Into my little world”

Hello again dear reader, To blog, or not to blog? That is the question. Whether tis best to STFU, or to prattle on, ensnaring the zeroes and ones of Google’s storage….. Shall we go with blog then? Larks, it doesn’t seem long since I was last here, bashing away at the keys, hoping that some semblance of wit and order would descend. So, I have, as you may have gathered from the last post and MS Paint epic, been away. Not, ‘been away’ as in Her Majesty’s Pleasure (Ed: for our American readers – in jail!), nor locking away in the funny farm either. Although, Lord knows that can’t be far away. 🙂 No, holiday it was and a family […]

“In violent times, you shouldn’t have to sell your soul
In black and white, they really, really ought to know “

Hi, A bit of a different week this time around. Rather than facing the commute along the ring road, I’ve been at home working. Well, on a training course. It was all very modern and made me think that in some small way, the future had arrived. 🙂 If you build it, they will log in…. Rather than travelling down to Dat Lundun,  I had the chance to try a remote training session. Basically, crank up the Analytical Engine and PigeonNet… sorry, I’ve been reading SteamPunk again… start up the PC, say a prayer to the Digital Pixies and hope the Broadband Goblins aren’t chewing on the lines.  Low and behold, my screen was filled with a video feed of the classroom, […]

“Hello, good evening and welcome to nothing much.”

Hi folks, Welcome to another dose of the irreverent – and many would say, irrelevant. 🙂 Fatal mistake that. Pausing to think. Well, not so much if you’re about to cross the streams or cut the blue wire (Ed: no! the RED one!!), but personally, from a blogging point of view, it tends to make me….. …. stall. To many brain cycles (#nerd) wasted on thinking what I should put, rather than just getting on with it. Think is, there’s not been much going on. I do wonder why you come here to catch up. But then, when I read some of the Name columns in the paper, I wonder why are folk paid to write this? 😛 Not Investing […]

“It’s a nice day for a white wedding”

Hi folks, Ooookay. Let’s hammer at the keys to pepper the white space with a series of letters. 🙂 I think it was around four-ish, that I commented on Facebook, that the Well of Blog Ideas was a little dry at that time. Which, then, was true. As often happens, unless I’ve got something up my proverbial sleeve, or some news to share, I do have to fall back to actually thinking about what I want to write about. Yes, shocking as it may seem, there is a plan to this ol’ blog. No, really. 🙂 Mawwiage Or so said Peter Cook’s character in The Princess Bride. This week saw the first round of voting in the UK on allowing […]
