Hi,
The washer is spinning merrily away to itself, so there will be my family’s clothes to hang out in a bit. I guess one good thing about the summer – other than not having to worry about a coat – is things dry quickly on the line. I guess that saves money on the tumbling, but you lose a little on the time. Still, a bit of mindfulness to enjoy the cooling feel and fresh scent of newly laundered items. Maybe, there’s a dash of satisfaction in having not just faffed about, but completed a few things of the To Do list.
It’s gap week before Chams and thankfully, I am not on the receiving end of any dysphoric tension. Dare I say, that feels good to write! ☺️ I am hoping that gentle state persists and also that next week’s weather prediction will prove to be wrong. Why does it seem that when Chameleons is on, Britain heats up?! A curse and a pox upon the climate wreckers! 😉 May your socks bunch into your shoes and your undies be too tight! Humbug and bah! 😁
The refunds for the I-can’t-believe-you-call-that-shoe-size-eight sandals have gone back. I have, however, picked up a rather cute floaty summer skirt in the sale. I’ve had in my basket since the spring, but I wasn’t prepared to pay the going rate. I guess good things come to those who wait 🙂
Next week also sees the A Level results, so good luck to younger readers – who am I kidding, thinking young folk read this! 😁 – or the family of said folk 🤗 Even if the results aren’t what was what was hoped for, maybe the Fates will smile and another proverbial door will open. TBH, I had awful results, but my main drive was just to get out of the small town I lived near. Box ticked and while I wasn’t really academic material, things got better moving away, and I made a life for myself.
In other news, the amount of spam that was clogging up the YATGB storage has stopped. Yes, it’s just text, and yes that takes compute power to process and store. Apologies if the new CAPTCHA system isn’t quite settled yet, but I think it’s worth keeping the junk out of the system.
Oh, a few note on commenting and tests done so far:
- Do type in your reply and then tick the box to say you’re a human.
- Do copy your comment to the clipboard if you’ve written a long post. Better safe than sorry!
- Don’t press the back button to edit your comment.
I’ve also added a date time plug-in and that should – if I’ve coded it right! 🙃- give the time gap between the first post and whatever the current day is.
^^ …. and I’ve just had to bin off said plugin for security reasons. Back to the drawing board! 🙂 Let’s try it old school…
Other than the above, I don't have much to report. Oh, apart from getting in touch with CJ who wrote the Queer Nottingham book. Not having my finger on the pulse - I an an old 🫠 - I think I may be a bit too late to the party to add anything more about Chams or Invasion, but details had been shared previously. There's also the timeline on a webpage, so fingers crossed history can be added to that. Oddly, I'd been able to find details about events and whatnot, by working through the YATGB previous posts. Maybe the blog has been useful after all! 😁

“I am not on the receiving end of any dysphoric tension”. That is always a good thing but glad you checked in anyway. Sorry for the heat, though, but that’s a collective problem that takes a bit of willpower from those in power … so don’t expect action any time soon. :-C

Yes, humanity needs to get its act together on resolving the heat problem. There’s things we can do to help at a personal level: recycle more, consume less meat, use green travel when possible, and…. stop voting for grifting big oil sock puppet morons 😁

I had mixed A Levels, but just enough to get me into my second choice redbrick university, and enjoyed my three years there.
A shame, yes but hopefully the returned stock will go to someone for a good price and an even better fit. The skirt is rather cute, IMO, and age appropriate. One does not wish to look muttony 🙂
As you and Sue have both been kind enough to post a comment, and neither of you have mentioned problems doing so, I am hopeful this have settled down.
Previously I was getting over hundred spam comments a week, and about a third of that in the junk folder for the contact form. I know it’s a few kilobytes here and there, but it’s compute & storage we don’t need to use up.
As to keeping a copy of your comment, FWIW, I’ve been doing that for years. Mainly down to the old wisdom of:
