Kindness

Hi,A handful of weeks ago, Susie made a reference to Twelfth Night. Now, as someone who loves a good quote, I did take a look at some of The Bard’s famous lines. This one jumped out at me: In nature there’s no blemish but the mind. None can be called deformed but the unkind. So, dare I suggest that kindness is cool? Going back a little further, and some readers may be aware of the sad passing of Keith Flint, the force majeure frontman for The Prodigy. It seems he was a kind fellow by all accounts. To be kind in a world that often seems so unpleasant is, I think, an act of rebellion. When the “cool kids’ in music dissed […]

Funshine

Hi, Despite somehow catching a cold in summer and the lengthy downpours, the British Weather is having a final throw of the dice for sun, wispy white clouds, and pale blue skies. Put away your opaques and boots, break out the sandals and fancy tops one more time 🙂 For whatever reason I had a sting of dysphoria at the start of the week, resulting in a shoe purchase as medication. Like many material purchases, it’s the search that distracts, not the purchased goods. I think I know that you should aim for experiences, not possessions. Still, when you’re on the work-home-work-home treadmill, sneaking in some T time isn’t always easy. It seems that in times of dysphoric dissonance, I fall […]

Building sites

Hi, I am thankful that it’s the weekend. Not that this week has been stressful or hard. I think, it overdid it a little last weekend concentrating on building the new Nottingham Chameleons web site. Yes, two late nights (nearly 2am. Tsk. When will I learn!) on Friday and Saturday, meant I wasn’t fully recharged for the week ahead. Still, my own fault, but I’m done now. “If you build it, they will come…” Chameleons had been using a free forum hosting company for just over a decade and the service had been great. Then one day, pop, it vanished. Not a peep from the hosting company. The whole lot just vanished in an instant. Quickly, we set up a […]

Warm heart

Hi, A post of light and dark this evening. If this isn’t your bag (baby), feel free to scroll on as required. 🙂 The Dark Last month, I visited a friend and found out, they’d been struggling with depression. Struggling, is now, perhaps too light a word for what they had. Swamped, drowned, consumed even. All words that may convey there sheer onslaught of what they went through, and, bless them, still are. They’re having treatment, but by no means are they out of the woods. Yes, it’s that type of serious, the poor bugger. I sat, listened, and sipped my tea as the story unfolded. I’ve made no secret, nor poster campaign, that I had depression. If being honest […]

Happy heart

Hi, I don’t know about you good people, but the long Easter Weekend was very kind to me. Plenty of time away from work and with my family. A few long walks in the woods (always a joy to see our dog bounding around) and some time for Wee Man & Little Miss to climb trees, or clamber about on old logs. Oh, there was even a productive visit to Ikea and a chance to clear up Little Miss’s room. She does like to keep her room tidy. I think she manages this by keeping toys and colouring books in the kitchen, living room and anywhere but her room. 🙂 Still, a brief chuck-out session, some serious hoovering and some […]
