“If you buy this record today,
It’s not true what the advertisements say,
Your life won’t be greatly improved.”

Hi, Being British, I feel it would be remiss of me not to mention today’s weather. 🙂 Yes, the shock and awe of a few flakes of snow and the country goes into a panic. 🙂 I honestly don’t know how we’d cope if we had proper snow. Namely, the levels of the white stuff that our far more northerly cousins – Canada, Finland, Norway, Russia, etc – get. Sure, it’s not been great in some parts of the country, but up here in the mild Midlands, it’s not so bad. Although we live out in the sticks, we’re lucky in that we live on a main road that gets enough traffic to squish the snow into slush. Dear Editor It’s not […]

“Don’t you call me pudgy, portly or stout
Just now tell me once again…
who’s fat”

Hey all, Guess I’ve faffed about enough on the interwebs (t’interwebs? #Northern) and I should get myself into gear. Hmmm. So much for that new exercise book feel to the New Year eh? Here I am, prattling away as per. 🙂 How was your Christmas? On Planet Jones, the big day went very well. The next few days, though, were rather busy with lots of too-ing and fro-ing as we did the visitor circuit. To be honest, I was glad of a sit down at the end of the week. That and the delight over deciding to book some extra holiday to extend the Christmas break. I’ve been enjoying the Christmas spirit – and the cakes, chocolates, dinners, etc – […]

“I’m on a mission,
In the destination unknown…”

Hi folks, Earlier today I was pondering what to write about. I had thought about doing a version of Desert Island Discs, a favourite radio show of mine. Yes, you know my keenness with music, but truth by told, it is as much the story of the person behind the tracks that interests me. Well, some interviewees, I should add. Sportsfolk don’t interest me so much, so those episodes I tend to overlook. Perhaps it’s because I don’t look into their world so much. Maybe if I did, I’d take more of an interest. Anyhoo, that will have to wait for a little while as I consider a few tracks. T-Town Some weeks (Ed: months?) ago, I talked about the Our […]

“Come into the garden, babe,
oh, come on in!”

Hey folks, Summer holiday time this week and very welcome it was too. A few days away from the rush of work and a chance to ignore the List of Stuff To Be Done on the fridge (home) and monitors (work). Instead, time to wander through the countryside, let the kids play without having to watch the clock and, if I’m lucky, to ponder life, catch up on some reading and generally do note* for a week or so (* Ed: for our visitors, note is a corruption of ‘nowt’ which in turn is a northern slang for ‘nothing’). Earlier this month the Jones Massive went off to a party. It’s not something we do regularly and it was with a number […]

“Don`t need your approval, your safety in numbers,
You stay in your team, I don`t care enough, to share your dream.”

Hi, Larks, time has run away with me this evening. Funny how that happens. For once, I was home on time, rather than staying late / playing catch up at the office. With folk keen to get away early for the weekend, the chance for a spot of serious thinking time can’t be ignored. Sometimes, said thinking is even work related. 😉 So, the kiddie-winks are tucked up in bed and the dog’s been walked. Both of us are just about dry following my lack of planning to take a coat, but it was only a brief shower. Now, to the business of blogging! 🙂 Middle of the Road Monday night saw the second part of Grayson Perry’s In the Best […]

“You can’t hide it you might as well embrace it.
So believe me it’s not easy.
It seems that something’s telling me…”

Hello again, Unlike last week’s Friday failure, I’m going to give myself a little more leeway by writing something up earlier in the day. If that’ll help improve the quality, well, it’s too early to tell 🙂 These last few days have been fairly quiet and as I’ve said before, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I don’t mind reading or watching drama, but given the choice, I’d rather avoid the less than jolly type. Oh, I suppose I should mention the Jubilee to keep this topical eh? Right, that’s that done. What else? 😉 Oh yes, the pre-Jubilee School Trip I went on, the kids sent thank you letters to the parents who helped keep an eye on them. I […]
