Purple or mauve?

Hi, How’s things with you? For me, this week has been a bit up and down. I nearly said ‘all over the place’, but in truth, I don’t think that’s wholly accurate and feels a shade dramatic. It’s one of those quiet inbetweeny periods where there’s a slight feeling of being in a holding pattern. That or on a long exit road from the motorway. Not quite there and not quite off either. Looking at it another way, maybe it’s a winding down of the emotion around the negativity and conflict of the last few weeks? Perhaps the stillness is the absence of that, and it should be enjoyed. Ah, to not live in Interesting Times 🤞 This week, BBC4 […]

…and breathe

Hi, I was very much in need of time out with friends and this week’s Chams visit did not disappoint. I was going to make a joke about the one of the differences between adults and kids, is kids get ‘a timeout’, but I couldn’t get a good punchline. 🙄 But what if adults did get the social cue to ponder their actions on the thinking step? Maybe someone might have remembered to pay their taxes? Maybe another might not be a person of interest to the police? More likely, IMO, those who probably do need to -ahem- reflect on their decisions, would double down on them. “…and I would’ve gotten away with it, if it wasn’t for you meddling […]

Bad apples

I am married, but I don’t assault my partner. I am a parent, but I don’t abuse children. I am a man, but I don’t molest women. I am straight, but I don’t hate people who love differently to me. I am genderfluid and I don’t think I am a woman. I am an atheist, but I don’t want to destroy religion. I am white and racism disgusts me. I have male parts, but I don’t expose them. I have struggled with mental illness, but I am not a threat. I went to university, but I’m not part of the elite. I am English, Scots, and Irish: a citizen of nowhere. I was a biker and a metaller, but I’m […]

35 & 28

Hi, Apparently, a week in politics is a long time. Sadly, it doesn’t seem quite enough for the current administration to learn what the Scottish reform would actually do (Hint: it does not break the Equality Act of 2010). That or to look at how the elected Scottish government studied, debated, and amended the legislation before approving it. In fairness, the problem is that they didn’t mark the legislation from any of the following: VIP Lane for COVID Supplies; Offshoring: How I Like My Personal Wealth and Refugees; or I’m a Millionaire, Get Me Outta This Tax System 😋 Ropey satire aside, what is the personal effect of the above blocking? Well, it underlines the current government’s active dislike for […]

The old bag

Hi, Let’s get stuck into it eh? “I don’t like spam!” First off, my apologies to those of you who have had their comments rubbished by the antispam gremlins. They love their job and can be a little over keen at times. I’ve tweaked the instructions a little, so with a bit of luck, things will improve. Perhaps, just before your post, you copy all the comment to your clipboard just in case. Isobel suggested this to me at Chams last night and it is something I’ll often do due to Blogger & WordPress having a moment now and then. As to Spam: is there a veggie alternative? 🤔 All this for a night? … and I don’t mean my […]

Too many nots spoil the chance

Hi, Well, that’s Week One out of the way. Or it is Week Zero if we’re welcoming our AI overlords? 🤔 Dear humans. Why are you hating on each other while you’re making the biosphere incompatible with your existence? Hugs, AI Overlords 😋 PS please post more cute pupper pics. Snarky jokes aside, with it being the first week of the year, lots of folk may be thinking about New Years Resolutions and possibly a reboot or restart in some way. With that in mind… A lot of not When I listen to trans folk, some of the things that talk about is a lot of not. I’m not ready, I’m not femme enough, I’m not blokey enough, I’m not […]
