Reflect well

Hi, How’s things with you, dear reader? Hopefully okay and if not, hopefully moving that way. As an unprofessional waffler – you think I’m paid for this guff? 🙂 – I keep a list of ideas should the creative waters run dry. No, not a climate change reference but a case of knowing – and sadly having experienced – having nil in the tank when it comes to a weekly post. Tiredness is the enemy. Odd given my superpower is napping and to prove it, my proverbial Kryptonite are ticking clocks. They’re just so… regular… with their accursed ticking! 😁 Where was I? Yes, creativity, tiredness, and a stash of ideas. So it is that this week I’m drawing on […]

Cloud 10

Well, it’s one louder isn’t it? 😁 Hello folks and welcome to the usual Friday post of waffle, photos, and brain rambles. Gap Not the shop, but the number of weeks between Chams meetings. I was very glad of the opportunity to step out last month and it’s certainly helped keep the dysphoria monster away. I have also bought some boyshorts in the Spring sales and they’re surprisingly comfy. I’ve shied away from mixing wardrobes in years before, but being able to work at home, has opened that option. I think it’s good to have the choice and if keeps the negativity away and the feelings of being okay with oneself, I’ll take that as a win. Keep your hair […]

Script: Impish

Scene: a gentlemen of senior years in a smart suit stands in near darkness. Outside the gloom, fire crackles unseen and there’s an unpleasant chemical taint to the air. Sir Gregory Hutt-Morton: I say, hello? Is there anyone there? A collection of spikes and barbs rise from the floor with a screech of metal against stone. They bend and bind into a set of chairs and a conference table. Sir Gregory Hutt-Morton: By all that’s holy! What fellness is this? HELP! Someone! Helloooo? Sir Gregory runs into the gloom, almost having to push his through the fog like darkness. In the distance he sees a patch of light. Running to it, he finds himself by the same chairs and table. […]

Fabulocity

Hi, Ah, the luxury of a Friday off and nothing to rush around for. Instead, the simple joy of a long walk in the countryside, a coffee with the Ever Lovely Mrs J, and the beauty of a cool Spring day. Truly, the gifts of time and a chance to unwind. I had a call with a friend last night (hello Andie! 👋) and I was saying that I’d take cross with myself over the faffing around in getting ready. Again, we’re back to that phrase of “would you say that to a friend?“. Perhaps if you had a train to catch, but glib comments aside, no. So, again, perhaps useful to not say it to myself either. As with […]

The Formula of You

Hi, It’s been a bit of an odd week this time around. Some good, some could-be-better, some WTAF?!, and a few tears along the way. My, that does sound dramatic that last bit! But it’s nothing serious or life threatening. I guess things build up and the eyeball sprinklers go into test mode 😉 Readers of a more fabulous nature may prefer the phrase mascara bothering egress 😁 but I wouldn’t know anything about that (Ted 😉). Could-be-better You might have picked up on an earlier link about Highly Sensitive People. Do please click the link if you’re curious. I’ve since read – and I can’t find the link – that the word sensitive comes with extra cultural baggage. E.g.: […]

Not so much

Hi, They other day I was talking to an old acquaintance from Chams (hello Kim! 👋) and we found ourselves bouncing around this comment from Yours Truly: “…There are times when it feels too much to be Richard nearly all of the time. It’s more than ‘dressing up’ which is not a phrase I like or identify with.“ To roll out some sage wisdom from one of the Jones’ kids favourite films: “Good guess, but actually no.” The Pirate Captain, The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! Those familiar with the above, may well have heard Hugh Grant’s beautiful British tones. The rest of you will just have to reread and imagine it. 😉 If you’re pressed for time and […]
