Breaking the spell

Hi, Shall we have a positive post to break things up a bit? It’s been a bit of tricky few weeks of late, so hopefully this will help break the cycle. ( Perhaps it would’ve been quicker to ask a level 6 friend to cast Remove Curse, but that may be a geek reference too far 🤓 Then again, could someone cast it across the UK? I feel we need help 😉 ). Moving on… Background At the risk of sounding like a character from The Fast Show – oddly, something I didn’t really watch – this week I have mostly been acting as a house husband. No, not married to a house (cue hOUses dEm4nd maRridge rigHts – iTs […]

Giving in

Hi, It’s Friday and I’ve had the day off. I think there’s a lot to be said about a four day week (but five days pay). Indeed, another research study has shown some very positive results. Not just for the employee, but the productivity (and morale) gains for the organisation. I guess one can dream right? No news yet on my application to drop my hours, as it seems to be working through the system. Puzzling skies This week has been a bit of a mixed bag. Dark clouds gathered – and not in a cool sword raising I have the powwwwer! kinda way. 😁 Mind you, must be a right pain finding clothes to fit that ripped frame. No […]

Big little things

Hi, How’s things with you? Hopefully you’re staying out of the wind and the wet at the mo. Still, that’ll shift the leaves about, water the plants, and top up the water supplies. Plus there’s the calories earned sweeping the drive and porch from the leaves. In last week’s post, Sue was kind enough to comment and mentioned (paraphrasing here) that smooth pins are one of the best things as a trans person. Okay, maybe not for some trans masc folk, but for those of us leaning towards femme, yes they are. For me, and I can only write about what goes on in my head, having my legs smooth helps. For want of a better metaphor, it’s like not […]

Sarnie?

Hi, It’s been an odd week this time around. The gentle and persistent clicking of the work/life balance ratchet turning a little too far. I’m not complaining, more noticing that I seem to be working longer than I probably should. Again, I don’t say this as a ooo, aren’t I a good employee, but more about noticing how easy it is to slip into the habit of I’ll just get this done… and then it’s closer to 6.30pm than it should be. I think I’ll need to keep an eye on this. Not just for the sake of my own wellbeing, but Mrs J’s too. There’s also a risk that should I be encouraged back into the office, that productivity […]

Xmas do, Oh Xmas do…

Hi, With missing the opportunity to be fancy last month – thank you sneezy cold 😋 – I was feeling the need of some time in prettier garb. I think as I put in the comments for Wednesday – and your experience may be different – I think there’s an external view that for part timers like me, it’s just clothes. You know, you throw them on, along with the slap, and that’s some box ticked or pleasure centre tickled. It isn’t. 🙂 I would also add, as a left leaning apologist liberal 😉 that if dressing floats your boat, you’ll get no judgement from me. Personally, the time spent in my other clothing validates me. That while I’m mostly […]

The pond, the rock, and the ripples

Hi, Given the slight wobble a few days ago, I’ve been attempting to try a bit more self care this week. That’s despite two rather serious issues at work around security. I’ll not say any more as part of what I do is keeping secrets: perhaps true organisationally and at the individual level too. However, the impact of such emergencies can be the ringing of the proverbial fire bell and it’s all hands on deck to sort it. With the stress levels rising, I’ve been mindful of advice from the Ever Lovely Mrs J, as well as that from those of you who commented or emailed in. Namely trying to take regular breaks, enjoy the moment while outside, and indulge […]
