The right type of news

Hi, Well this is a late edition for a Friday. Given the choice between gassing on and having a nap, well, the forty winks won lids down. There was a little too much week at the end of the brainpower, so an emergency power save function was called. We’re still keeping the heating off, although as Child 2.0 has one of the coldest rooms, he’s got his storage heater on, bless him. For the rest of the house, we’re in comfy plus sized hoodies, blankets, and heat pads if it gets nippy. Our dogs have coats as well, but as they don’t have thick fur, it would feel mean otherwise. While it’s fairly easy to layer up for your body, […]

Survival

Hi, How’s it going? Plants, yo If a blogger changes their diet and doesn’t write about it, did it really happen? 😉 Some time ago, we switched to being mostly veggie at Chez Jones. For the Ever Lovely Mrs J, it was to help her health condition, and for Yours Truly, it was a mix of solidarity and thinking about the planet. We’ve also switched over to oat milk and I think I actually prefer it. What’s also helped is that we have one of the food box deliveries. It’s where you get all the raw ingredients and, more importantly, the recipe cards as well. That’s a fair few on the market and it seems quite the personal choice. I […]

Sunshine in rain

Hi, With it being half-term, the Ever Lovely Mrs J, myself, and Child 2.0 have a time away from the usual. For C2, it was a much needed break from school and a chance to unwind. Likewise, I had a few days off and I was somewhat surprised at how many days I’ve had an afternoon nap on. I guess I needed to top my proverbial batteries back. I’m pretty sure I read something about the Mediterranean approach to sleeping in the day, being very beneficial. I do wonder what would a working day be like, if, hypothetically, a person had full say on how and when they worked. I’m not complaining, just speculating on how that might play out […]

Trapdoor

Hi, This week be a post of two halves. If you can make it a three halves of one, the current UK administration have a job for you in budgeting 😋 Thank you, I’m here all week! Try the vegetarian option! 😉 Introspection Now if you don’t want to wade through this next chunk of navel gazing, feel free to skip to the end and there’s the usual What Lynn Did Next at Chams stuff. 🙂 I have had another period of time off work. Nothing serious – as in a major physical condition or an ‘episode’ around mental health – thankfully, but a seasonal cold that flattened me. We’ll come back to this in a mo. Before the above, […]

Magical Big Girl Pants

Hi, I think I’m going to just dive in and waffle my way out of stumbling around this post 🙂 I know: what’s new! 😉 It’s not been an easy week and certainly one of highs and lows. The bad news is the awful treatment of helpline volunteers at Mermaids and this resulted in the charity closing the line for a time. There’s not much I can do (I doubt my MP will listen), so I’ve donated to help top up the funds. At least that feels like doing something. In more positive news, I’ve been trying to focus on the moment rather than being such in my head. I stumbled upon a phrase – I am not my thoughts […]

Rethink

Hi, An afternoon nap, a blanket, and a heatpad (warm the person, not the room 🙂) may not solve all ills, but they’re not a had place to start, IMO. Firstly, a big thank you to those who got in touch, offered to listen, offer their help, or shared their experiences. It all helps, so thank you. ❤️ Conversation The Ever Lovely Mrs J suggested that there might be an employee assistance programme that could offer help around whatever is bugging me. As usual, Mrs J was well informed and by lucky happenstance, I got an appointment very quickly. What can I tell you about it? Okay, well the good news is there may be a few ideas to explore […]
