Hi, This, is very much the life. I’ve had the luxury of a week off at home. I appreciate that may sound sarcastic, and in many ways, that’s my default tone. One of continual dry humour, but honestly, the Jones Family Staycation (apologies for anyone who dislikes portmanteaus), worked rather well. It’s not often you do the tourist thing in your local city. We’ve visited some ruins, been on long walks in the woods, had some very nice lunches out and risked a family day out, ice skating. Hi, Last weekend of the Easter Holidays, so it’s back into the routine of School Runs and later starts. Not that I mind. Having kids keeps you entertained – you may like to perform a Joe Pesci in Goodfellas impression in your head, if it’ll help. 🙂 Oh, but it’s rewarding too, but if you’re a parent, you probably get this and if you’re not a parent, you may not give a sh**. Happy heart

Hi, I don’t know about you good people, but the long Easter Weekend was very kind to me. Plenty of time away from work and with my family. A few long walks in the woods (always a joy to see our dog bounding around) and some time for Wee Man & Little Miss to climb trees, or clamber about on old logs. Oh, there was even a productive visit to Ikea and a chance to clear up Little Miss’s room. She does like to keep her room tidy. What’s a simple rural type like you, doing in an urban setting such as this?

Hi, I’m back after a week away on a course. One of those organisational training sessions. It’s been fairly taxing, given the amount of revision and the sheer depth the course went into. Oh and did I mention two exams at the end? 🙂 Still, the deed is done and the die is cast. Just a case of waiting to see what comes back. Really, I’m just glad it’s over, even if it did give me some new ideas and extra skills. I like training – just not that full on! 🙂 Perhaps I should be bothered by result, but worrying about it won’t help and there’s nothing tied to my job about the need to pass. Talking of passing […]

Ready boots? Start walking

Hi, It being half-term, at least, here in sunny and chilly Nottinghamshire, the Jones Massive have been away for a short break. Just along the road by an hour or so, for a rural getaway. I took great pleasure in switching my work phone off, and putting it in the draw. A holiday, for me, means a holiday and that means no work email or telephone calls. Hi, A little under one more week and Christmas will have passed. All the traipsing around shops, visiting the post office and the wrapping (“The horror! The horrorrrr!” 🙂 ), will – I hope – have been worth it. For me, there’s little that meets doing something for someone else. Either, a little bit of help, listening at the right time, or putting thought into a gift, rather than an amount. But… maybe that’s just me.
