The Wrong Side of History

Hi, Well, how was your Christmas? I hope you had a pleasant one and that all went well. This year, we had somehow managed to duck much of the travelling and instead, the extended Jones Clan came to our little house. I could have said …on the prairie, but moor would be closer. 🙂 We are far enough out of civilisation to be in werewolf country, but at least it keeps the door-to-door sales people on their toes. So we swapped travel for the frenzied activity of cooking and preparing enough food. Honestly, I need to think about cutting down. Not only did I get a new postcode for Xmas, but I no longer feel safe swimming in case there […]

Under pressure

Hi, Yeah, we’re back to pop culture references as a title. Well, at least for another week. 🙂 In the last week, I’ve been recording my blood pressure. It all kicked off after I had an appointment at the local doctors’ and he pointed out I’d not had it [my blood pressure] taken for some time. I wandered off to see the Nurse and it seems it was a little too high for someone of my age. Early 40s eh? Is there when bits start dropping off as you fall apart? If so, could some of my flab evaporate elsewhere please? Oh, except in the boob and bum department, I need all the help I can in those departments 😉 […]

A series of conflicting events

Hi, How’s things? It’s been the first week back at school for Wee Man and Little Miss. They took it pretty well and despite a little bit of grumbling from one of them, I think they both enjoyed catching up with their friends. As is the case with a new year, they both get a new teacher. Wee Man is now in the last class before he goes to secondary. Little Miss, is in her second year and I remember her teacher being a big hit with her brother. Said teacher, he’s…. what’s the best way to say this? He’s got that knack in getting kids really involved and keen to learn. Dare I say, it’s a joy to watch […]

Rebel bass!

Hi, It’s Friday, it’s fifteen minutes to ten and I’m on the wrong side of warm. I don’t know if it’s my vague Celtic ancestry, but I’m not one for hot weather. Sure, a bit of sun is nice and to see the trees and hedgerows all green, is rather nice. Still, only two months or so to go, and things will start to cool down. I’m rather looking forward to that. Sorry, sun worshippers, I’ll always be an autumn person. 🙂 So, with the obligatory comment about the weather, what shall I prattle on about? Well, I didn’t make it to Chameleons this week. I was packed and good to go, yet I decided to hang back to attend […]

“slave screams he thinks he knows what he wants”

Hi, That’s the first week back after a fab holiday. All in all, it could have gone a lot worse, so small mercies eh? It doesn’t seem long since we were packing our bags for the big trip, and yet, it’s half term for Wee Man and Little Miss already. Another week off? Larks, you’ve just had a fortnight, you jammy so-and-so’s! 🙂 I’m pretty sure I won’t be taking any time off this week coming. I’m keeping it stashed for the next family holiday, so the Ever Lovely Mrs J (who seems to manage to save her flexi-time up – mainly as she works so very hard) will be covering. Oh, and no doubt Mrs J Senior may be […]

“A life to call our own,
That is ours alone,
Is as hard as hell to come by these days.”

Hi, The Past The other day, over on ‘Straightbook’ a friend request popped into my inbox. It was from an old school mate. Now, I’ve probably used up my quotient of ironic quote-marks. If I had any more, I guess they’d be around the word mate. 😉 I was a little thrown by this and me being me, I was in a bit of a spot over to accept or not. Seems silly now I look back. Not so much the outing that happened back then, but more me taking the time to consider accepting. I guess I was thinking forgive & forget but at the same time, I was worried that if I did, would he have another pop at outing me again? […]
