Bad apples

I am married, but I don’t assault my partner. I am a parent, but I don’t abuse children. I am a man, but I don’t molest women. I am straight, but I don’t hate people who love differently to me. I am genderfluid and I don’t think I am a woman. I am an atheist, but I don’t want to destroy religion. I am white and racism disgusts me. I have male parts, but I don’t expose them. I have struggled with mental illness, but I am not a threat. I went to university, but I’m not part of the elite. I am English, Scots, and Irish: a citizen of nowhere. I was a biker and a metaller, but I’m […]

Hi, Apparently, a week in politics is a long time. Sadly, it doesn’t seem quite enough for the current administration to learn what the Scottish reform would actually do (Hint: it does not break the Equality Act of 2010). That or to look at how the elected Scottish government studied, debated, and amended the legislation before approving it. In fairness, the problem is that they didn’t mark the legislation from any of the following: VIP Lane for COVID Supplies; Offshoring: How I Like My Personal Wealth and Refugees; or I’m a Millionaire, Get Me Outta This Tax System 😋 Ropey satire aside, what is the personal effect of the above blocking? Well, it underlines the current government’s active dislike for […]

2022: a look back

Hi, How was Christmas? Hopefully relaxed and not too stressful. With the end of the holiday year and company shutdown, Mrs J and I have had nearly a full week off together. It’s been great not having to rush anywhere and be able to take things easy. Happy holidays indeed. Plus, there’s a few days left before it’s back to work in the new year. So, new year huh? It seems traditional to start one after the end of December 😉 So, 2022? I was going to write that it felt like a hangover from 2021. But that feels somewhat negative, even if the years previous have cast a long shadow. Yes, there’s been some awful events this year and […]

Respair

Hello dear reader. How are things with you? I hope things are going well or moving towards getting there. Despite a slight sprinkling of grumpy dust earlier in the week – tiredness? over work? just being a d*ck? – this week has gone surprisingly well. Okay, apart from getting drenched while taking the dogs for a walk. It seems waterproofs are only proof for so much. Luckily, there’s towels and tumble dryers 🌟 Today’s title is from the ever educating Susie Dent. A word that I found over on Positive.News here and then I stumbled on this, which made me chuckle. So, yeah, as Susie explains Respair is fresh hope; a recovery from despair. I’ll take that. Perhaps the confelicity […]

Transgender Day of Remembrance

On 20th November each year, the transgender community remembers those who’ve we’ve lost to violence. Violence is enabled by those who spread hateful disinformation about trans and gender nonconforming people. Hatred that has a cost in lives. May I ask that when you encounter anti trans bigotry, please speak out and challenge as best you can. Take care, Lynn

Hi, This week be a post of two halves. If you can make it a three halves of one, the current UK administration have a job for you in budgeting 😋 Thank you, I’m here all week! Try the vegetarian option! 😉 Introspection Now if you don’t want to wade through this next chunk of navel gazing, feel free to skip to the end and there’s the usual What Lynn Did Next at Chams stuff. 🙂 I have had another period of time off work. Nothing serious – as in a major physical condition or an ‘episode’ around mental health – thankfully, but a seasonal cold that flattened me. We’ll come back to this in a mo. Before the above, […]
