Getting on

Hi, A late post today due to Easter holidays and whatnot. To be honest, there’s not much to report. Perhaps, given the time we live in, that may not be a bad thing. Haters gonna… I noticed the Scottish Government’s new bill on making inciting hatred for certain protected characteristics came into force at the start of this month. A few folk have complained about it and, of course, some have posted comments online, as if poking the system to see what they can say. At the moment, there seems to be a thing where certain folk feel they should be able to say anything, and without comeback or complaint. The old “but I was just saying…” line, only now […]

Curious echoes

Hi, Leap year? Loafing about more like 😉 Yeah, I had Feb 29th off but more by accident than design. I had some holiday leave carried over from last year, and Thursday was booked so I didn’t lose it. Now, I’ve been both enjoying and benefitting from a shorter working week for a while now. Okay, it’s every other Friday off, but that still helps. It’s not just the psychological and physiological boost I get, but having the time to do things, means I can run errands and try my hand at the housework. With apologies to Ms Austen, it is a truth universally acknowledged that a man who tidies, must point it out. 🙂 But, hey, it gets done […]

Living through it

Hi, A somewhat later post given a busy day and driving Child 2.0 there, I wait, & we go back again in the electro-dad-mobile. I should add for clarity, that the car is electric, not me. Then again, I’ve not been on charge for a long time. Might that explain the lack of get up and go? Go and get made-up I set off slightly later than usual for Chams. The Ever Lovely Mrs J had been to run her folks around, and holding back for thirty mins wasn’t a massive issue. Not only would it mean Child 2.0 didn’t need to look after the hounds, Mrs J would arrive while I was home, and the post rush hour traffic […]

Circles, stones, rings, and things

Hi, Hello blog, my old friend. I’ve come to waffle on again… and with apologies to Paul Simon. 🙂 I’ve been gifted with a Friday off and I think I needed it. Not for any great dramas, but the five day week seems too much at this point in life. Introspective Today I had my second appointment with the counsellor and it really helped. We spoke about anxiety, load metaphors (we’ll come back to that in a mo), briefly the past, and the hidden impact of being genderfluid. So, load metaphors? Load as in emotional heavy lifting. Some folk might say they’ve got a full plate, they’re snowed under, etc. I’ve heard some use the spoons metaphor of certain activities […]

The future and the past

Hi, Welcome to the future! Flying cars; near free energy from the local plasma tokamak; the three day week; snow at Christmas; food for all; bespoke clothes that fit and that are ethically and environmentally sourced; and everyone so jolly there’s no need for war and hate. …. and then I woke up. Bugger 🙄 Still, has it ever been thus if we only hear about the bad stuff? Shall we instead turn from the wider issues and take a moment to look at the smaller stuff? No, not my IQ number 😉 but the things we can do locally, and try to do good where we can? Chams 2024.01.E1 If I was a proper geek I might have written […]

The Escape Zone

Hi, With Christmas comes holidays and with holidays, time off for enjoying your hobbies and interests. Oh, and if you’re a duffer like me, maybe an afternoon nap. Get in. 🙂 Minor Blog News For unknown reasons, the side panel for Previously on YATGB… had done a runner, but that should now be back. I’ve also added it to the Blogs page, seeing as that seems a popular stop off point for you. Attention team: geekery approaching I’m going to talk about a gaming – or gayming, if you want to mix the LGBTQ+ into the digital mix. That and some old school 80s pen & paper RPG stuff. If this is not your bag, that’s cool too. BTW, bonus […]
