Little things

Hi, Thank goodness for the four day week. I think I’ve had enough rides on this particulra un-merry-go-round for a time! 🙂 Talking of shorter weeks, I noticed an article about more UK companies trialing this. Half a job As a part time part timer (five days then four days) I can say it’s made a big difference to our lives. The option to safe stuff up and have the weekend clear is a gift. Getting errands sorted, phone calls, bills paid, housework, and clearing up. Talking of which, I’ve braved the upstairs cupboard where some of my old Lynn things have been ignored. Clearly I do not need to buy any more tights for a time. However, some recycling […]

Scene: A new life awaits

A group of people gather on the shore of an ancient island. Behind them, a volcano steams and rumbles, darkening the skies. Classic architecture has fallen or leans precariously.Water washes up from the sea and spills over the marble walkway. Ocul: New sandals then Rafus? Rafus: Yeah, double platforms. They help keep my toga dry when I go downstairs to make breakfast. Bit scary if you tumble off them, but needs must eh? Ocul: I’ve moved the breakfast things on to the roof. Luckily, the balcony we had put in to the bedroom makes it easy to fish for meals. That and, uhh, the amount of fish in our house. Rafus: Talking of food, did you bring the items? Ocul: […]

Belated blogiversary

Hi, How’s things? Here at Chez Jones, it’s been a quiet Halloween, as both Child 2.0 and the Every Lovely Mrs J have been away. In days of yore, I guess I would’ve booked time off, dressed suitably, and headed out into the world to stretch my legs. But, time was not my friend and if I’m honest, my energy levels were more suited to curling up on the sofa with a warm mug of tea and catching up on some streaming. That and updating my game’s mod list with new tweaks and features. Creature feature Given the comments in the press, politics, and rent-a-gob Bigot of the Week, I thought it best to lean into the trans stereotypes for […]

An odd duck

How’s things with you? Hopefully good and if not, fingers crossed they will change for the better. Some witty title to do with counselling TL:DR – put your feed up, Anxiety Goblin, you’ve earned a rest, sweetie. This week was my last session with the therapist. I think the best way to describe it was perhaps a closing episode. Not so much a goodbye, but more an agreement – from me, I should add, not the therapist pushing in any way – that things are a lot better. Better in that I feel I probably don’t need the regular help and guidance. Ooo, isn’t that nice to say eh? 😸 That things are better! 🤘 Given that, perhaps time to […]

Ladies who latte

Hi, In the words of a recent songsmith, Käärijä, “this exhausting week and the many long days are behind” [mashup video – heavy music ahead, yo 🤘]. While I’m not quite up for a round of piña coladas, I am ready for some downtime. Ah, perhaps one day the money situation will be such that a further reduction in hours would be possible. Well, ideally the balance of reduced hours and enough moolar to make ends meet. This month seemed to be a bit expensive, and I had seek funds from the Bank of Ever Lovely Mrs J. I wouldn’t have minded so much if I’d spent a mint on fancy stuff – it was bills and repairs. Still, we’re […]

Difference matters

Hi, How’s things? This week, the Jones family have been enjoying a staycation and it’s been fantastic. My, that’s unusually positive and drama free isn’t it? 🤪 What a joy to be able to be able to say that, given the last few summer ends have been difficult, mentally speaking. Fingers crossed the negativity goblin remains in their cave eh? Are you local? Sadly, the immortal words of ‘the local shop’ from The League of Gentlemen have not been heard in our wanderings around the East Midlands. Maybe that’s a good thing, given what the shop owners get up to. 😉 So, I’ve had the pleasure of early-ish dog walks accompanied by the Ever Lovely Mrs J in not too […]
