Respair

Hello dear reader. How are things with you? I hope things are going well or moving towards getting there. Despite a slight sprinkling of grumpy dust earlier in the week – tiredness? over work? just being a d*ck? – this week has gone surprisingly well. Okay, apart from getting drenched while taking the dogs for a walk. It seems waterproofs are only proof for so much. Luckily, there’s towels and tumble dryers 🌟 Today’s title is from the ever educating Susie Dent. A word that I found over on Positive.News here and then I stumbled on this, which made me chuckle. So, yeah, as Susie explains Respair is fresh hope; a recovery from despair. I’ll take that. Perhaps the confelicity […]

Crack the lens

Hi, By all that’s fabulous, it is far too hot today. A global uptick in heat waves and extreme weather, but hey, let’s count the money from burning fossil fuels in our air conditioned mansions. 😋 A few weeks back I happened to go to a professional ‘do’ and photos were taken: group shots on the fly and posed ones too. Luckily I managed to avoid most, but not all. I found myself looking at the smiles and laughter, thinking that folk had enjoyed themselves (which is great). There, in the background, was what looked like an egg with a pair of glasses drawn on it, balanced on a shirt and tie. Yes, that would be me. I clicked by […]

The short week

Hi, If you listen carefully, you might hear the soft sound of contentment. The mythical four day week that lets us recharge and enjoy time away from the red tape machines. For yours truly, it’s been shorter than that, as I booked Thursday of as well. Given the Ever Lovely Mrs J is signed off ill, both children are off – and I am still getting used to Wee Man’s university schedule – it seemed a good idea to have a family lunch out. Talking of Mrs J, we had some good news from the medical experts, so fingers crossed things are going in the right direction now. She’s clearly not 100% yet. However, as after going out, she fell […]

Seeking pretty, not plain

Hi, Well, I think I can safely say it’s been a rather strange week. Thank you to those of you who offered kind words of support: it’s helped. ❤️ It has been a week away from work, but not time off in a holiday sense. But, hey, worker’s rights for sick pay and not being on a zero hour gig are reasons to be cheerful. I’m frustrated in that I am not quite there yet in terms of recovery. Cross with myself that this lethargy seems to have dragged on. It’s certainly made itself known this last two weeks and may have been lurking in the background from Christmas. The good news is that it’s just me and numerous COVID […]

Neshinistas

Hi, I feel it’s time to be honest with you all and come out. I am nesh and proud of it. 🙂 Big up the nesh massive and unfurl the fluffy, rainbow blanket of warmth! Yes, I have a propensity to feeling the cold. As much as I like to be wrapped up and cosy (hello hygge ❤️ ‘hoo-gurr‘), frustratingly I’m not good in hot weather. You’d think that topping up the warmth batteries in summer would help, but it seems not to work like that. So, the eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed no midweek post. I felt of the mindset that if you don’t have anything nice to say… It was a case that what I might […]

Reset, recharged, recovering

Hi, Well, it certainly helped to get back into the swing of things. After a bit too long in cisville, having time with like-minded folk certainly helped recharge my batteries. I think it’s easy to forget what a difference Chams makes. In fact, as the Ever Lovely Mrs J said to me earlier, it’s more than going out, it’s support too. How right she is. Oh, I’d also like to say a quick note of thanks to those of you who got in touch via email or who commented with support. Thank you ❤️ After last weekend’s spot of bother, I had ordered two skirts from the Oxfam Online Store as a bit of both a gamble and retail distraction. […]
