#TransYouthAreLoved

Hi, A message to trans youth 🏳️‍⚧️ You are awesome, you are valid, and you have a future. Please, ignore the haters and the grifters; they don’t speak for us and their views don’t define you. You do you. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to transition socially, partially, or medically; if you have; or if you never will. Do what feels right for you. It’s your life, your mind, and your body. To mix things up gender wise is just as okay as it is to be mix things up around sexuality. It’s okay to be you, it really is. If you’ve found a label that works for you, that’s cool. If you haven’t, that’s absolutely fine too. They’re […]

And breathe…

Hi, It’s been somewhat hectic on Planet Jones this week. The Ever Lovely Mrs J has not been well, bless her, and with GCSEs in full swing for Child 2.0, pick-up times are all over the place. Still, it’s the weekend and now exams are over, Child 2.0 has three months off until the start of sixth form. Oh, and prom. Three months? Well, you can imagine how chuffed he is about that. A very long summer and, to top it off nicely, no more school uniform. Gah, how he (and I) hated it. Gaspers Unfortunately, the cold shifted from the usual nose and feeling a bit pants situation, into an awful cough, and Mrs J’s been off work with […]

Not doing owt

Hi, Ahh, a week’s staycation, a night out, and a long weekend? Well, colour me well chuffed and tiptoperoo 🙂 Engage smug mode 🤓 ( For the non Midlands Massive, owt – said ‘oat’ – means ‘anything’. Typically used as a reply to an accusation. “Me? I’ve haven’t done owt!” 🙂 ) Chilling Out With the Easter holidays in their second week, myself, the Ever Lovely Mrs J, and Child 2.0 had time off. Okay, technically Child 2.0 was already off, but they did attend some pre exam top-up lessons for their art GCSE, bless them. Crikey, extra lessons out of term time: he is dedicated 🩷 We did a few trips out as a family and then Mrs J […]

Losing to win

Hi, Another week, another post 🙂 Get on with it, Jones! Conversation Last time around you may recall me dithering about – as per 😉 – over Wookieness. The quick answer is we talked about it as a couple. Of course, being a right Nervous Nelly – or Anxiety Andrea? 🤔 – I managed to tie myself up in knots, emotionally speaking. 🙄 Anyhoo, the conversation was along the lines of not wanting to cause upset and embarrassment, rather than seeking permission. Does that make sense? As ever, the Ever Lovely Mrs J continues her wisdom and wifey loveliness. We talked about how it might help, how most of my leg hair has gone through age, and we laughed that […]

Pots of gold

Hi, Yay for Fridays! The magic of what might be as the weekend stretches out before us. Mind you, the above is no less, even if you’ve been a work dodger, like me, and had most of the week off. 😉 But, it’s half-term and I think I can safely say, everyone at Jones Towers was in bed of a break. Certainly Child 2.0 (exams + school), the Ever Lovely Mrs J (difficult to be that awesome day in, day out), and Muggins here…. who just needed a break to recharge. Past Behaviours As it was half-term, Mrs J and I have been balancing child care, looking after the hounds, and Life Stuff – so far, so typically working parents. […]

Circles, stones, rings, and things

Hi, Hello blog, my old friend. I’ve come to waffle on again… and with apologies to Paul Simon. 🙂 I’ve been gifted with a Friday off and I think I needed it. Not for any great dramas, but the five day week seems too much at this point in life. Introspective Today I had my second appointment with the counsellor and it really helped. We spoke about anxiety, load metaphors (we’ll come back to that in a mo), briefly the past, and the hidden impact of being genderfluid. So, load metaphors? Load as in emotional heavy lifting. Some folk might say they’ve got a full plate, they’re snowed under, etc. I’ve heard some use the spoons metaphor of certain activities […]
