So long 2024

Hello dear reader, Did you have a good festive break? I hope so. If not, I’ll cross my fingers for some good luck to come your way. Theme If I had to pick a word to describe 2024, I think it would be steady. Yes, there’s been a few ups and downs across the year, but it would be dull otherwise 🙂 On positive view, the Ever Lovely Mrs J’s health remains, well, steady – certainly no worse. While her conditions will not magically fix themselves, we had some good news a few months back, saying that one thing – and therefore one risk – was off the list. Wee Man seems more settled outside of education, bless him. We’ve […]

Christmas Ghosts

Hi, Not quite the last post of the year, but certainly the one before Christmas. I guess now would be a good time to wish you the best over the festive period and hope it all goes well – regardless of how you like to spend the time or however you like to celebrate things. Just, take it steady, know that it’s just one day, and it doesn’t need to be perfect. Good luck out there 😉 As to Christmas presents, if you’re lucky enough to have someone in your life who undertands your trans nature and buys with that in mind, good for you, enjoy. For those of you who don’t or who’s family don’t gift with the true […]

Comfortable

Hi, Another Friday, another blog post! 🙂 Comfort & Joy A few days back I happened to fall upon the article What does the tightness of our clothes say about our emotions? which chimed given my love of winter, hygge (“who guh“), and leaning into my I’m-not-mesh-I’m-wrapped-up-nicely-thank-you nature. Being a 50 something bloke, you’ll not be seeing me in sports leggings, skinnies*, or a fitted top – not with my ‘shape’. Apparently lumpy is still a shape, just not a smooth one!😉But, with the cold comes the need to layer appropriately and as the doggos need a walk & a sniff every day, keeping warm in the sharper late Autumn breeze is welcome. [ * At least, not in bloke […]

Difference matters

Hi, How’s things? This week, the Jones family have been enjoying a staycation and it’s been fantastic. My, that’s unusually positive and drama free isn’t it? 🤪 What a joy to be able to be able to say that, given the last few summer ends have been difficult, mentally speaking. Fingers crossed the negativity goblin remains in their cave eh? Are you local? Sadly, the immortal words of ‘the local shop’ from The League of Gentlemen have not been heard in our wanderings around the East Midlands. Maybe that’s a good thing, given what the shop owners get up to. 😉 So, I’ve had the pleasure of early-ish dog walks accompanied by the Ever Lovely Mrs J in not too […]

Must think of a better title

Hi, Okay, sun, you’ve had your fun, warmed the plants, topped up the solar panels, and now it’s a touch too warm; back behind the clouds, matey 😉 Cis people decide again Well, I guess the Big Reset by Labour on the NHS didn’t quite reach all the areas in need of a change. The temporary ban on hormone blockers has been maintained, despite it not being recommended in the Cass Review and such a ban goes against the positive experiences of those who’ve had access to treatment. This article by Dr Aidan Kelly (clinical psychologist and Director at Gender Plus) who does work in the field of transgender health care is well worth a read, IMO. Fair play to […]

#TransYouthAreLoved

Hi, A message to trans youth 🏳️‍⚧️ You are awesome, you are valid, and you have a future. Please, ignore the haters and the grifters; they don’t speak for us and their views don’t define you. You do you. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to transition socially, partially, or medically; if you have; or if you never will. Do what feels right for you. It’s your life, your mind, and your body. To mix things up gender wise is just as okay as it is to be mix things up around sexuality. It’s okay to be you, it really is. If you’ve found a label that works for you, that’s cool. If you haven’t, that’s absolutely fine too. They’re […]
