What did you do in the culture wars, Granny Lynn?

Hi, So we’re midway through November and we’re into Trans Awareness Week. If you’re not aware of it, it’s a period of time where anti hate policies are activated on social media and angertainment creators take a much deserved break from holding us diabolical trans people to account… Oh, who am I kidding! 😁 In more civilised areas that’s not the case. Indeed it’s been so rather lovely to see a surge of good news stories about trans folk and their lives. To read about people just getting on; hearing how getting who they need to be helps; and how to be a good ally; etc. Which brings me around to this evening’s post and an perhaps an odd intersection. Boot time

Hi, I’m very glad of Friday off. Mainly as this week has been a little too ‘fun packed’ – as in not at all. Nothing serious, just a lot of stuff. Lots of meetings, running errands, phone calls, etc. They all take up headspace and time. On Thursday morning, I dragged my legs out of bed and sat there for five minutes, just stalling, frozen even. Do you get that? Where you need to get up and get on, yet A) your legs are all ‘nah, fam’, and B) thoughts whirl and spin, but there’s no get up & go? Perhaps the human equivalent of booting up a modern operating system on old hardware. 🙂 So it was that it […]

Haircut, sir?

Hi, The other day I was sat waiting in the barbers. For the record, I hadn’t dropped in for a chat, use their WiFi, or warm up 🙂 Child 2.0 had requested a haircut, so I powered up the electro dadmobile and off we went. ( Pause for soapbox rant: ‘Warm banks’ so people have a place to go and not be cold. WTF government? ) As he sat in the chair and the barber snipped and buzzed to restyle his hair, I find my thoughts drifting around on the situation. Firstly, Child 2.0 has a certain coolness to their look that they’re happy with. Well, as much as you can when your gender and body don’t fully align. I’ve […]

Curl up and dye

Hi, With it being half-term – and a lovely two weeks at that – both myself and the Ever Lovely Mrs J, have had a few days off with Child 2.0. Not that they need a lot of entertaining, given they are midway into their teenage years. Just keep the fridge stocked, the WiFi at high capacity, and operate the Parental Taxi Service as required. 🙂 Hopefully they will pick us a nice home in our dotage 😁 Thursday was a bit touch and go, as I fell asleep on the sofa for about three hours. I guess I must have needed it. This did put me a little behind schedule on getting ready, but traffic had cleared from the […]

Punk up your jam

Hi, If I had to pick a word to describe this week, it would probably be quiet. Well, in as much as it would be a description, rather than an instruction 🙂 Quiet is not always a bad thing in my book. Yeah, a bit of excitement and fun is good. But, I’d rather not have any drama, if that makes sense. Not to be Mistress of the Obvious, but high drama didn’t always equal high reward. It might make for better stories or film, but what did Hitchcock say about drama, cinema, and dull bits? 🙂 Moose Ah, no. Mousse, not the big boggers with the antlers. But while we’re here. Explorer to Moose: Why the long face? Moose: […]
