Salads it is then

Hi, How’s things? Here at Chez Jones, it is the cusp of the weekend. Work is done, the laptop shutdown, and my feet are up. Only the dogs to walk and then make some tea. Well, I say make. Realistically I’ll be assisting the Ever Lovely Mrs J, given I’m not a scratch cook. Bigot Bingo It’s been a good week for rentagobs and haters. I’ll give you a quick summary to spare you time and distress: Okay, that’s that crap out of the way. Good stuff Shall we talk about David Tennant’s awesomeness? Top parent points 🌟 Also, a Muslim Pride event too ☪️🏳️‍🌈 I hope the event goes well and folk feel loved & accepted. YouGov – a […]

#TransYouthAreLoved

Hi, A message to trans youth 🏳️‍⚧️ You are awesome, you are valid, and you have a future. Please, ignore the haters and the grifters; they don’t speak for us and their views don’t define you. You do you. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to transition socially, partially, or medically; if you have; or if you never will. Do what feels right for you. It’s your life, your mind, and your body. To mix things up gender wise is just as okay as it is to be mix things up around sexuality. It’s okay to be you, it really is. If you’ve found a label that works for you, that’s cool. If you haven’t, that’s absolutely fine too. They’re […]

And breathe…

Hi, It’s been somewhat hectic on Planet Jones this week. The Ever Lovely Mrs J has not been well, bless her, and with GCSEs in full swing for Child 2.0, pick-up times are all over the place. Still, it’s the weekend and now exams are over, Child 2.0 has three months off until the start of sixth form. Oh, and prom. Three months? Well, you can imagine how chuffed he is about that. A very long summer and, to top it off nicely, no more school uniform. Gah, how he (and I) hated it. Gaspers Unfortunately, the cold shifted from the usual nose and feeling a bit pants situation, into an awful cough, and Mrs J’s been off work with […]

To be at ease

Hi, As I tap away on my phone, lying on the sofa with a full tum, I can hear the distant hum of the heat pump drier. No more do I worry about the clothes being shrunk nor the electricity bill in using it. It also means I don’t have to faff about running in and out as the summer showers drift through. One night accuse me of ‘ligging about’, but hey, it’s Friday and I’ve had a day off. My batteries feel much recharged and the house is looking better than it did earlier too. Still, better ligging, than orming. The latter being sitting around ungainly, squirming, and fidgeting. I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the above […]

Scene: Piblington on Sea

A small podium has been set up in front of a government building by the seaside. Press and the public are gathered around. Robert Hooksmith, Mayor: Good morning everyone and thank you for coming to the mayoral election announcement and Q&A. Polite applause ripples through the crowd and cameras flash. Mayor: Thank you everyone. Through our collective hard work and effort, we’ve got Piblington on Sea on the up. Employment is much improved, the sea front has been fully restored to it’s Victorian glory, and crime & antisocial behaviour are lower year on year. There’s some muttering and shaking of heads in the crowd. Mayor: -Ahem- I come before you today to ask that you support our party in dealing […]

Voices matter

Hi, A later than usual post today. No great drama or upset, just a busy day as it’s the school holidays. Out Child 2.0 and I headed into town – quite possibly, for the first time this year – as he wanted items for the upcoming school prom. I was surprised to see how many more shops had closed up in the Broadmarsh area of Nottingham. I say area rather than the shopping centre, which has been been demolished some time ago. So many To Let signs and boarded up units. It’s like there’s a slow burning fire that’s crept up the hill, touching and closing the properties. Going Backwards Talking of Child 2.0, we had a letter from the […]
