Hi,
How’s things? Here at Chez Jones, it is the cusp of the weekend. Work is done, the laptop shutdown, and my feet are up. Only the dogs to walk and then make some tea. Well, I say make. Realistically I’ll be assisting the Ever Lovely Mrs J, given I’m not a scratch cook.
Bigot Bingo
It’s been a good week for rentagobs and haters. I’ll give you a quick summary to spare you time and distress:
- Racists caught saying racist things.
- Clueless bigot says something hateful
Okay, that’s that crap out of the way.
Good stuff
Shall we talk about David Tennant’s awesomeness? Top parent points 🌟
Also, a Muslim Pride event too ☪️🏳️🌈 I hope the event goes well and folk feel loved & accepted.
YouGov – a survey/polling company – have released a report on where British folk stand around sex education and including information about being trans and non-binary. For all the s*** in the press, online, and from the Dork Lords of Sith – sorry! I mesnt respected leaders 😉 – it’s fairly positive.
Caution: this trans person is reversing
I don’t recall saying “go go gadget coat”, but I had an encounter this week, with having inflated 🎈…. and no, my waist, not my ego 😉
Given the hot weather, I fished out my shorts and there was no way I could do the zip up. How come I can get into my bloke jeans? They’re not *that* stretchy!
Yeah, I know I’ve put some weight on, but reaching for the measuring tape, put me at 40″ round the tum. Hmm. Upsetting.
A day later, I order some cut offs and some shorts, and to be safe, I measure again: 37. Eh?
Okay, I’m aware of bloating being a thing, but do I need to avoid sharp objects in case of puncture based explosions? 😁
But, two good things have come of this. I’m cutting down on sugar – no honey in my redbush tea, avoiding chocolate, etc – I’m trying to drink more water, and eat more veggies. Luckily the summer weather makes that easier. It’s been a few days and while I find myself peckish, I’m not having chocolate cravings so much. Hopefully that’s a good thing.
Oh, and I bought some linen cropped trousers which he really helped with the hot weather, and they feel a bit skirt like & unisex. I’ll take that as a win.
Chams
I nearly said ‘a slight bump in the road’ but that would have been an accidental pun too far. Shall we go with carpocalypse instead? 😁 Yes, the ‘just for two weeks’ street works is a gift that’s kept on giving! 😉 Thankfully, I was able to arrange with the Centre that I could open up and Chams still went ahead.
Hopefully I won’t jinx things by saying this might be the end of the works. Last night the repair team were laying new tarmac, so fingers crossed for the next meeting.
Ooo, talking of the next meeting, might we have a new government that’s better than the current one, by then? I can dream, I guess.
Unfortunately no Val due to emergency pet care duties and Jayne is recovering from COVID, bless her. A number of brave souls parked ‘oop road’ and wandered in.
Given my experience last time, I took a much smaller case and a wig box too. Talking of wigs, I had a wry smile to myself of my own dumb luck.
I gave my new wig a wash and left it to dry on its stand. Previously I’d tried a ‘wet & set’, tried foam rollers, and even using straighteners to put some waves in. But sadly, to no avail. Well, it seems the right thing to do, is do nothing and let it dry naturally! 😁 I was really pleased with the light curls that had settled in. I’ll take that as a win.
Thanks to Debbie for taking the photo.
Have a good week! 🩷

PS: I’ve updated the links as per Sue’s feedback, so they open in a new tab or window. Also, I’ve added a ‘lightbox’ feature and that should let you view the smaller images in a larger format. Please let me know how you get on.

Nice pic at Chams, as always.
I find losing weight is about cutting down on fermented sugars most of all: booze, bread, cheese, etc. Secondarily, the refined sugars, like chocolate and bikkies. (Mmm, bikkies!!)
Thanks for the positive links. We could do with news like this. Just one request: is it possible to make the linked pages pop up as separate windows? I keep shutting them down forgetting that doing that also shuts your blog. Also, it’s easier that way to flip between the article and your comments.
Have a nice weekend. Not too many bikkies, now!

Yeah, cutting the snack foods and high fat / low fullness (or poor satiety, as Dr/Mrs J, might say) seems to be the way to go. That and replacing them with more suitable nibbles. So, less puds and choccy, but more carrots, celery, and crunchy veg you have to spend time eating. Slow food seems to help.
We don’t tend to buy biscuits as a rule, and I think that helps. Mmm, shortbread. 🐖😁
Bread, cheese, and chocolate are my go to snacks, so not having them in the house will help, I think. A case of being careful at the local Co-op.
Booze? Well, we’ve been alcohol free for a few years now, although the AF stout isn’t as low cal as Mrs J’s AF lager. Still, a can every other day and we don’t buy pop or sugary drinks.
Thanks for the kind words re the piccy. A case of a make do outfit given the warmth and need for less packing.
I’ve just tried updating the links to open in a new window. That might take a few hours to refresh as the web host uses a caching system to reduce load and costs. Next I need to work out how to change the picture to appear smaller, and open a full version with clicked. Ah, technology: the only constant is change 🙂
