Slow time

Hi, After the double post last time, here I am, late. Tut tut eh? Reviewing the review Shall we start with some positive news? The British Medical Association posted this earlier this week: Members of the BMA’s Council recently voted in favour of a motion which asked the Association to ‘publicly critique the Cass Review’, after doctors and academics in several countries, including the UK, voiced concern about weaknesses in the methodologies used in the Review and problems arising from the implementation of some of the recommendations There’s further details on Pink News as well. The latter includes referencing the other medical groups and experts, on their issues with the evidence and the findings. Last month The Good Law Project […]

Notts Pride 2024

Hi, I am slightly tearful but with happy tears. I could say ‘totes emoshe’, yet I’m struggling to spell it and it’s not a phrase I use, even ironically. 🙂 Focus, Lynn… The Preamble Gibberish With each summer, the local Pride events come and go. I love to hear about the experience of others…. and I had carefully pushed the ‘what if I…?’ to the quiet part of my mind. If you’re curious what else is in that gentle space of low noise, subdued environ, and untrodden floors; it’s where the important things like MOTs, deadlines, do-not-forgets, and what-to-get-at-the-shops rest gently and ignored, bless them. A warm, restful place, occasionally visited by the imaginary ADHD whirlwind, that looks (currently) like […]

Easy does it

Hi, With Child 2.0 enjoying a long summer break of that season spanning gap between GCSEs and A levels, the Ever Lovely Mrs J decided to have a few days of as well. Due to a busy diary, I couldn’t join them on Thursday, but I am enjoying an extra Friday off. I should add that I’ve booked the time off. Apparently it’s Not the Done Thing to just not turn up and take the money. You know, how certain Lords, CEOs, and MPs don’t 😜 Maybe an honest day’s work is just for you peasants? 😁 Thank you. I’m here all week. Fight the power! 😉 Perhaps Pride? Notts Pride is this weekend – Saturday lunchtime, from what I’ve […]

Must think of a better title

Hi, Okay, sun, you’ve had your fun, warmed the plants, topped up the solar panels, and now it’s a touch too warm; back behind the clouds, matey 😉 Cis people decide again Well, I guess the Big Reset by Labour on the NHS didn’t quite reach all the areas in need of a change. The temporary ban on hormone blockers has been maintained, despite it not being recommended in the Cass Review and such a ban goes against the positive experiences of those who’ve had access to treatment. This article by Dr Aidan Kelly (clinical psychologist and Director at Gender Plus) who does work in the field of transgender health care is well worth a read, IMO. Fair play to […]

A little luxury is still a luxury

Hi, How’s things? Hopefully good and if not, I hope that they soon will be. A rare treat With two days off midweek, and having had a day out on Wednesday, I was glad of some downtime to get a few things sorted in the house. The -ahem- ‘post getting ready debris’ was enthusiastically installed across the spare room’s double bed, so that needed sorting out. Not to mention the Shoe Forest that had appeared, as my footwear collection migrated from upstairs to the stady confines of under the spare bed 🙂 Thursday I had planned to go out with Val, but sadly our work calendars couldn’t quite align, so that was that unfortunately. Still, maybe with luck we’ll strike […]

Out with the old

Hi, So, how are things? Hopefully going well. For me, I’ve a day off as part of my nonworking hours. I feel very lucky to be able to afford every other Friday off. It certainly helps with my mood, resting up from a busy week, and I don’t lose the weekend to chores. Happy times indeed. Difficult news I think things at YATGB are going to take a bit of a hit as of this week. I’m not giving up exactly, but I think my blogging is going to take a knock. Those do-gooder types with their grown-up politics, care for the less well off, and bloomin’ acceptance of people. Well, they’re only in bloody charge now! 😉 What’s even […]
