A week of living undangerously

Hi folks, With it being a half-term break in dear Old Blighty – and two weeks* for Notts residents – the Jones Family decided to take some time off. Given last time’s wobble post – or possible ‘melt-down’ if I’m part of the ADD/ADHD neurospicy massive? – perhaps a break away from the usual would be a good thing. Oh, and to the kind souls who wrote in with wisdom and kindness, thank you 🙏 ( * Readers of a certain age may wish to over pronouces the phrase ‘two weeks’ 🙂 Be aware that the original Total Recall film came out in 1990…. and still no sign of flying cars or home fusion! 🙃 Looking at you Back to […]

Rethinking

Hi, Thoughts arrive like butterflies, so goes the old grunge anthem of the 90s. Focus, Lynn, focus. Half term holidays I had a look at my leave entitlement recently and thinking about the upcoming half-term, I’ve booked some time off. I think I had left it a bit too long – yes, even as Lynn “part timing it” Jones – having every other Friday off. Sometimes, I think you just need to put the tools away, fold up the work gear, and do something else for a time. So it is that the Jones Massive will be having a few days out here and there. No doubt with hounds and certainly with an eye towards hot drinks and suitable refueling. […]

Sparks, drops, and good friends

Hi, This one’s going to be somewhat of a mixed bag. But hey, isn’t that how life plays out? But, I’m off today which is always a good start to the weekend in my book! 🙂 Sparks The housework is just about sorted and I’ve even had a chuck out of old clothes. Items that I loved at the time, but I’m not wearing. Some are old favourites that no longer fit (thank you, middle aged spread 🐖). Others I’m just not wearing because… well, perhaps a difficult truth to speak is I’ve got too much. I forget who said it but I’m conscious of the phrase “we wear 10% of our clothes 90% of the time.” So, yeah, stuff […]

An odd duck

How’s things with you? Hopefully good and if not, fingers crossed they will change for the better. Some witty title to do with counselling TL:DR – put your feed up, Anxiety Goblin, you’ve earned a rest, sweetie. This week was my last session with the therapist. I think the best way to describe it was perhaps a closing episode. Not so much a goodbye, but more an agreement – from me, I should add, not the therapist pushing in any way – that things are a lot better. Better in that I feel I probably don’t need the regular help and guidance. Ooo, isn’t that nice to say eh? 😸 That things are better! 🤘 Given that, perhaps time to […]

Ladies who latte

Hi, In the words of a recent songsmith, Käärijä, “this exhausting week and the many long days are behind” [mashup video – heavy music ahead, yo 🤘]. While I’m not quite up for a round of piña coladas, I am ready for some downtime. Ah, perhaps one day the money situation will be such that a further reduction in hours would be possible. Well, ideally the balance of reduced hours and enough moolar to make ends meet. This month seemed to be a bit expensive, and I had seek funds from the Bank of Ever Lovely Mrs J. I wouldn’t have minded so much if I’d spent a mint on fancy stuff – it was bills and repairs. Still, we’re […]

Quiet time

Hi, I’m suspecting that this post will be a late one. After school activities have swapped to the end of the week, so my usual writing time will be delayed. Not that I mind, it gets Child 2.0 and I out of the house, and while he’s doing his activity, I can have a cup of tea and a think. I’m hoping the tuck shop will be selling bright ideas and inspiration, as I’m a bit short on both at the mo 😉 I think it might have to be just a flapjack, mind you. Chams Poster In terms of good news, the A3 signs I created* and ordered for Chams have arrived all the way from Italy (did you […]
