With Child 2.0 enjoying a long summer break of that season spanning gap between GCSEs and A levels, the Ever Lovely Mrs J decided to have a few days of as well. Due to a busy diary, I couldn’t join them on Thursday, but I am enjoying an extra Friday off.
I should add that I’ve booked the time off. Apparently it’s Not the Done Thing to just not turn up and take the money. You know, how certain Lords, CEOs, and MPs don’t 😜 Maybe an honest day’s work is just for you peasants? 😁

Perhaps Pride?
Notts Pride is this weekend – Saturday lunchtime, from what I’ve read – and I may be going. I say, may, because it depends on Mrs J’s health (the ‘joy’ of fatigue due to a chronic condition, bless her) as she needs a good rest in the afternoon.
The second element of may – not the month 😉 – is that Child 2.0 might come along. I guess we’ll see.
So, if the stars align (Ïä Ïä 🐙 – sorry Ctulthu reference) i may find myself at a local Pride event in Ally Dad Disguise. I’ve already apologised to fellow Chams Massive folk if I wave but don’t stop to say hi. Ah, closets eh? At least this one takes plenty of clothes and is portable 😉
Talking of Ally Dad stuff, no further feedback on my contract to our new Labour MP nor Wes Streeting’s office. Hmm. Still, top marks to Nottinghamshire MP, Nadia Whittome, in seeking an audience with Starmer around meeting trans youth from her constituency. Full details on the Pink News article.
Thursday
Thursday afternoon was a bit of a rush due to various things going on and as I started to edge towards the Ack I’m a Bit Wharm (Notts language for ‘warm’), my enthusiasm for getting ready for Chams dipped somewhat. The idea of a bit of social remains, it’s the faff of getting ready.
Still, I packed what I needed and set off. I guess the car’s A/C, a phonecall with my folks, and a cheeky fishcake from the chippy seemed to top my batteries back up nicely.
The ability to call people while on the move, to be cooled in the car, a night out with accepting friends, and the vehicle’s all electric – I say this in a good way: what I time to be alive. Very much, reasons to be grateful. 🙏
I was quite chuffed with the results of the ‘fake not bake oil’ that you mix with body moisturiser. That’s helped reduce the ‘office tan’ on my upper arms and give some colour on my pins – thankfully not in orange* though. 🙂
( * A slight glow for me rather than the usual vampire white default. I’ll not be heading into bronzed or – shudder! – ‘Orange is the New Tw**’ as He Who Is Not Be Named 😜 ).

A few quick items that an anonymous source passed to me via the Trans Mafia secret park bench drop. I was hoping for a communique via the Space Laser, but it’s be a bit cloudy of late. 😉 As the anonymous source does not name their targets, please don’t speculate on who they are talking about. Personally, I think they’re just being satirical.

Chams
A busy night which I think is a good thing. I was looking through the sign in book with Val, and generally speaking, we’ve had about fourteen people most meetings. Yeah, we get more people in the autumn and winter, but spring/summer has stayed busy.
That’s absolutely a good thing, as I guess the group is giving people what they need and I think that’s fantastic. Certainly – or more accurately, IMHO – that all important safe space and sense of community.
We had some returning new folk – which is great to see: not only in that I guess they’re getting what they need, but also to see their confidence and mood improve too. 🏳️⚧️🩷
Diane suggested an alternative to Hollywood Corner…
– no, that’s not a term you should ask your waxing specialist about. Honestly! Get your mind out of the gutter 😉
… which was to try the corridor for a change. Cue a short queue for photos to help us remember the evening. Good to oblige folk where you can.
Oh, and I stumbled on a tip to use Aquaphor Lip Repair for under eyes. It’s pretty heavy – ‘cos it’s lip repair, innit 🙂 – but I found it helped smooth out my wrinkles and helped my colour corrector go on more evenly. Possibly something to have a look for on-line, if you’re of similar out of warranty age 😉

I can’t decide whether I’m disappointed on your behalf that you might not be able do your first Pride in femme mode or thrilled that you’re going in trans Ally dad mode, which is well cool in itself. Go Proud Parents! (topic of our next Pride Network coffee morning apparently – I can take notes if you want, though I think you’re in a better position to present it.)
Trying not to think too hard about how the ‘what you got in your knicks?’ check will go. Asking people to expose themselves in public to prove they have a right to the bathroom? That’ll go well – especially in the main dining room at Claridges.

Which, of course, is BS given I’m definitely under the big ol’ transgender umbrella and while not out, I’m politely vocal – and sometimes impolitely too 😉 – ally for our awesome trans masc son. Hello, Imposter Syndrome I guess. I will try to gather my thoughts and see if I can get them into some semblance of continuity….. perhaps a first for my blogging 😁

We’ve been here before with the Toilet Police and it’s an absolute farce. As ever, it’ll be people who don’t fit the narrow and stereotypical ‘standard’ of feminity who will suffer under this nonsense and that’s not okay. IMO, it’s just more RWT (right wing twattery) to distract from the true problem of predatory cis-het men who are free to abuse (verbally and otherwise).
I hope Pride is a success, whether and how you are able to attend. There seems to be a lot of support for Pride events these days, although we look forward to a time when they won’t be necessary.
Also hoping Child 2.0 has a relaxed summer, even though there are The Results to wait for. Starting A-levels is IMHO a wonderful transition from being merely a schoolkid to being someone with beneficial interests and talent and prospects. Wishing your not so little one all the very best.
I am haunted by the idea of a cheeky fishcake. Fried food that tells rough gags like some third-rate Northern comic in a bad club is the stuff of nightmares. …Or do I need a shrink?

No, you don’t need a shrink, Mrs 🩷 All the amazing, interesting, and best people are a little bit crackers, IMO.
I guess it’s like ‘a cheeky Nandos’, where it’s more the act of you probably shouldn’t, but definitely will 🙂 A modern take on ‘naughty but nice’ which I think was an advert for cream cakes in the 80s.
Pride was really good and I think given the nonsense from bigots and the attacks on the community – legal and literal – it’s needed. I guess, while I wasn’t ‘waving the flag’ in Lynn mode, I’d like to hope that another person in the march, is another voice, another ally, and another proponent for acceptance.
C2 decided to stay at home, bless them, and that’s fine. It was very busy and I found the crowds, bustle, and noise a lot. Wee Man said he much preferred A Levels, as the teachers had less crowd control to do, the subjects were more focused, and I’m hoping C2 finds the same. Thank you for your well wishes, Sue 🩷
