Recovery

Hi, A good week? I hope so and if it hasn’t been, fingers crossed that things soon improve. Off-line With half-term underway, the Jones Crew have been taking it easy on a much needed staycation. We’ve had plenty of dog walks, breakfast out, and a few trips here& there. Child 2.0 does love history, bless him, so we’ve visited castles and spent time in the local library. Local luxuries With the Ever Lovely Mrs J at home resting, Child 2.0 and I headed into the suburbs and to the nearest big library. I had planned to drop him off, then have a pootle* around the charity shops, before picking him up. ( Pootle: to take a slow walk around a […]

Brainfizz

Hi, Tis a funny thing this blogging lark. There are times when no thoughts come and the whitespace sits empty. Usually, I have to – like now – just go at it, and that seems to break the ice, and off we go. Conversely, there are times – early – where my brain is on overspin. So many ideas come at once that it’s like trying to pick out a sock in a busy tumblerdrier. Again, it’s necessary to break out of the resting while busy in thought and just start. Ah, to find that balance of creativity *and* focus, therein is the magic. Still, at least this week’s goblin is rich in thought and their hair is looking F […]

Hello from Mr Thickie

Hi, Something is off in the state of Lynnmark this week. No, not a visit from the Anxiety Goblin or the Black Dog, thankfully. Instead, a growing level of incompetence and tiredness. A lovely pairing if you want to embarrass yourself and generally make a right toe* of things. (See also a pig’s ear. For non Brits reading this, getting things so very wrong. Hmm. I’m now curious what other cultures/languages have as similar phrases. 🤔) Example one Thursday, I had my outfits picked, bag packed, and I’d had a refreshing hot shower as part of getting ready. I remembered to pop to the shops, so Child 2.0 and the Ever Lovely Mrs J had something tasty for their tea. […]

Better than the past

Hi, As I was unloading the tumble drier earlier, three thoughts drifted into my noggin. Firstly, I’m hoping the T800 Eco Warrior won’t come for me, because it’s a heat pump based system, and there are more important environmental criminals worthy of their attention. Oh, and no AntiWokers, I don’t mean ‘terminating’. Perhaps a look into the post 1.5C world in 2070 might be enough to make them think….. not that I’ll be holding my breath for the tech-broligarchs to think any further than their fame, power, and money. A level of wealth beyond vulgar, IMO. Secondly: it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a man in progression of housework, must be in want of advertising it 😉 With apologies […]

Fabocalypse

Hi, How’s things? Hopefully good and if not, moving that way soon. There’s another winter storm blowing at the mo, so please take care if you’re out and about. It’s been a full week so my battery is somewhat flat. Still, it’s the weekend, so a chance to rest and catch-up with a few activities. Zapped Talking of batteries – proverbial and technical – there was a slight caffeine related issue at last night’s Chams. Val was kind enough to make some hot drinks and what we both thought was decaffeinated coffee wasn’t. I did wonder why I had more energy mid evening! 😁 Now, for your coffee fiends out there 😉 this is probably no issue. For folk like […]

A better place

Hi, The end of the week and thank my lucky Big Girls pants, it’s Friday off as well. Get in! 💃 Blue Monday – no, not the song – is behind us and it’s the long, slow walk into Spring. Yes, we’ve still got the icy winds of Feb to go. That and March’s you put all your warm clothes away? Ha, you fool! but the nights do not seem quite so dark and the morning’s not quite so cold. Plus, I heard the most joyful birdsong while out. With a non-working Friday – make your own jokes about what I do when I am in the office😊- this means a good tidyup and sort out. I will be honest […]
