Seasons turning

Hello dear reader, Welcome dear autumn, with your bright mornings, fleece jumpers, and cosy boots. Goodbye shorts and sandals, may you enjoy the long rest in the cupboard. So good to see you again painted toes and smooth pins: it’s been too long. I’m glad you’re back. Colouring in I spotted this lovely bit of news earlier. It’s a story in which a group of cartoonists have come together to create a colouring book for children new to this country. How awesome is that? 💜 It’s full of old school Beano-esq monochrome, where a kid can spend some time enjoying one of life’s simple pleasures, art. If you have a few quid, you can donate to the cause, buying a […]

On, off, out, and better

Hi, Today, I had the good fortune of a day off. Hello blessings of reduced hours. Does this make me a part time part timer? 😉 Well, part time in as much as presenting. I’m always trans: just not able to appear that way. With that in mind, what is an occasional table when it’s not being a table? 🤔 Good vibes So, the good news is the nerves are starting to settle. Gah, talking about my nerves makes me think of a dramatic swoon in full Victorian garb. 😉 By the belt and braces of Richmond Jones, the poor lady’s nerves! Smythe! Get the smelling salts, my good fellow 🙂 Silliness aside, said worries are less intense, less… ground […]

Positive change

Hi folks, How’s things? For those of you in Dear Old Blighty, hopefully you’re managing to cope with the hellweather summer’s last hurrah. Oof. Wake me up when it’s back below 20°C 🙂 Enjoy the little things Bonus geek points if you can name the film reference 🤓 The good news around my mental health is that things seem to be settling down a little. Yes, I still feel the thrum of an over clocked heartbeat at times, stomach issues, but the incidents are generally less intense and shorter too. Worries come, but they do not seem to overwhelm me. This chemical detachment, if you will, seems to give the option to poke at the thought and pause: is this […]

To sway with the wind

Hi, How’s things? Hopefully less muddled than my current brain state 😁 Keep taking the tablets So I’ve finished my half doses and I’m now on a regular 20mg tablet. The good news is I’ve been through the pit – over the placebo uplift and back out of the emotional wobble that follows. Hopefully, it’s a steady – if occasionally wobbly – climb that improves. I am feeling less panicky – which I guess the whole reason I’m back here 😁. I can still feel the pull of runaway worries, but (touch wood) they are not grabbing me or causing my body to go into panic mode. Again, reasons to be cheerful. I think my sleeping patterns are settling down […]

Choice not sentence

Hello dear reader, Okay, so this is attempt number four to get this opening, uhh, open…? 🤦‍♀️ Deep breath, Lynn… and focus. It bears repeating that here at YATGB, I write about what’s going on: the good, the bad, and the whatever. Sometimes the world, sometimes Chams, and oftentimes, whatever nonsense is fluttering around the maelstrom wind in my mind. I got into writing after reading (following?) the Web 2.0 boom of trans blogs as Becky’s Web and Joanna’s Diary. Jeez, that’s over twenty years ago. I wonder what they’re up to now? 🤔 Reading how others coped, thrived, fought, and learned to live with being somewhere under the transgender umbrella, helped me. Likewise, writing has let me make sense […]

Time

Hi, It’s been a while hasn’t it? Unusually for a post, I’m actually in Lynn mode. Usually, I’m laid back on the sofa, or tucked away somewhere quite, swiping the virtual keyboard. So, where are we now? In truth, could be better, but equally, things could be a whole lot worse. 🙂 We had some time away as a family and, well, there were good and bad bits. The good is that we all got to go away, have a change of scene, try some new things, and there was no housework to be done either. Okay, a bit of cooking, but not much and Mrs J excels at that. I’m more semi organised heating, rather than anything creative. We […]
