Hi folks,
How’s things? For those of you in Dear Old Blighty, hopefully you’re managing to cope with the hellweather summer’s last hurrah. Oof. Wake me up when it’s back below 20°C 🙂
Enjoy the little things
Bonus geek points if you can name the film reference 🤓
The good news around my mental health is that things seem to be settling down a little. Yes, I still feel the thrum of an over clocked heartbeat at times, stomach issues, but the incidents are generally less intense and shorter too. Worries come, but they do not seem to overwhelm me. This chemical detachment, if you will, seems to give the option to poke at the thought and pause: is this likely or is this just emotions talking? What’s really going on?
As well as the above, I’ve been trying to get out more, put more breaks in between tasks, and enjoy the little things.
Sure, it’s hot at the mo, but I’m getting up earlier to take the dogs out. I’m rushing less because of this and I get to enjoy a walk in the cool autumn air. It was a joy to have to put on a fleece midweek, as I was cold. I should’ve taken a photo of the morning mist across the woods. You’ll just have to take my word that it was beautiful 🙂

YATGB has moved home recently, so there may be some interweb settling in that needs to happen.
The new hosting company is run locally and I’ve been using them for the Jones family plus Nottingham Chameleons too. In fact, on our hosting anniversary, I got an email saying the firm had paid into a tree planting initiative. Top stuff, indeed.
Why did I jump? Well, the older firm were quite good when I started off with them. After they were bought out by a big company, things started to change. Telephone support went first, then the free security certificates. Since then, I’ve lost confidence in the service. Recently, customers were told sites would be moved to a new platform (and prices) later in the summer. To quote the sage wisdom of Mr Han Solo: “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.” 😉
I guess the worry bricks stacked up and in the end, it felt better to be elsewhere than to stay put.
Yes, running the site is going to cost me a bit more, but in honesty, I enjoy writing things here. Yes, sometimes I lose my blogging mojo, but isn’t that true of most things? Sometimes you need to walk away, cool off a bit, and come back refreshed.
In fact, reading that last line back. Maybe that’s what I’ve needed over the last few months. Cool off, take time away, and come back. Ideally with fab pins and a contented life view 😉

Glad to hear of the positive change in your mental health !
I am very much not liking the heat either, roll on autumn 🙂

Yes, moving in the right direction, even if not fully there.
I guess that can be said about mental health and the temperature! 🙂
Sending you all good wishes for best health.
I’d heard from others that a heatwave had descended on the UK this week. Living where I do, it tends to be consistently around the 28-30C mark every day from June to September which is quite hot but you get used to it. Occasionally it’s more, occasionally it’s less, but there are rarely big leaps in temperature. In Britain, weather just appears out of nowhere and slinks off again as mysteriously as it came and you have to adjust constantly. UK weather got to me in the end and is the chief reason I moved. Good luck coping, but you do know there’s a snowstorm expected Thursday, right? Or is it Tuesday? Who knows, but it’ll snow, I can promise you … or hail … or something.

Thanks, Sue 💜 Kind of you to say.
Yes, it’s been a touch warm – or ‘wharm’ as we say in Notts – this week. Certainly too much for those of us with Celtic blood 🙂 It’s cooling off a bit now and it’s far from the Mediterranean levels of heat.
A friend once said to me: “We don’t have climate in the UK: we have weather” 🙂 So your comment about the changeability is certainly accurate.
If there’s a snowstorm for Thursday, I’ll need to match my ice boots with my new dress 😉
