Found my smile

Hi, Last night’s visit to Chams was just what I needed. Funny isn’t it, how just a few hours as you (or more accurately, all of you) makes so much difference. Firstly, a note of thanks to those of you who asked after me. Either via PM, email, this ol’ blog, or face to face. Secondly, an apology from me over the somewhat darker tone of late. How can I put this? I had the most excellent holiday with my family. Some travel, a variety of hotels, great food, beautiful scenery, and many days together, rather than at the colouring in department. What’s not to like? 🙂 /sighs I can’t put my finger on things exactly, but my guess would […]

All Jack and no Jill

Hi, It’s another long weekend and that’s put an extra spring in my step. A very welcome addition to the happiness after last night’s visit to Chameleons. It had been a little too long. I had felt that all too familiar ‘drop’ – more on that later, and unreasonable bouts of occasional snappiness. The latter isn’t acceptable and I felt bad afterwards. All Jack and no Jill, does not a happy camper make. No, ‘The Drop’ as I’ve started to call it, starts with the ticking of the proverbial clock. The realisation that it’s been too long, since you got to express all of you. There is, the feeling of a pull, or a catch. Like a string or thread, […]

Ghosts of the Past

Hi all, How’s things with you? For me, it’s been a bit of a strange week. A gentle dusting of dysphoria, the work/home/work/home treadmill, and yet… it’s the weekend, which always gives me a reason to be cheerful. Oh and Old Ginge – my wig has kindly been returned from it’s holiday. I shall look forward to retrying being a temporary redhead. 🙂 All good things. Oh and I’ve had a whiskey and ginger too. Mmm…. The Girl of Christmas Past I don’t know what it is. For me, I’ve always found a Friday night to have a certain amount of magic about it. The magic of potential, or just an escape from the regular, I couldn’t say. It might […]

Under the bridge

Hi, Not a reference to the rather good Red Hot Chili Peppers, nor the shambolic pop mauling from All Stains – sorry, Saints. 😛 As I made my way to Chameleons last night, so I drove under the new bridge by Queen’s Medical Centre. It’s been a while coming and as I’ve sat in traffic on the way home, I’ve watched it be slowly assembled and now, it straddles the dual carriage way, ready to take the next phase of the tram from the city out to Clifton. It’s nice to see the money I’ve been charged for being able to park at work on land the firm owns, put to use 😉 I would have liked to have taken […]

“Hold your head up, keep your head up, movin’ on”

Hello, Where to start? Shall we go with the good stuff? Reasons to be cheerful, eh? The Jones Massive have now returned from their short half-term sojourn to the wilds of the West Midlands. Five lovely days with zero mobile phone access, a bit of WiFi for anti-social media, one too many pub lunches and much walking of the hound & kids. All of the latter rest far easier when they’ve had a long walk. Likewise for No So Little Miss Tubby who’s currently hammering the keys. 🙂 Yes, it was a much needed and much enjoyed break. It’s funny. I often get a little tense about going away. I guess I’m a creature of habit. Yet, once I’m there, I’m soon […]

“It didn’t fit, it wasn’t right.
Wasn’t just the size.
They say you know, When you know.
I don’t know.”

Hiya, It’s been a strange and not always pleasant week. Nothing particularly serious, just a build up of life’s little niggles. I seem to be battling with technical stuff at work and that coupled with a visit of Pink Fog  (more on that later), seem to be making a rather unhealthy mess. Still – and to coin a phrase from a far more educated chap than I – “When you’re going through Hell, keep going.” Not that I was going through Hell, morelike the distant suburbs. You know, the grass is a little warm underfoot, the air doesn’t always reek of sulphur and the discordant wails of Justin Bieber is far off. 😛 So, Pink Fog? It’s been a while since […]
