Worry less and do more

Hi, Last night was time for Chameleons, and while I’ve managed to remove all traces of my rather nice, silver nail polish. I’ve not done such a good job, shifting the bike oil. Luckily, I’m not a closet bicycle repairman, I’m not sure I could handle the stress. Hiding your overalls, making sure your fingers are free from oil and being able to walk by a tool rack, without looking wistful….. Okay, that’s enough with that silliness. 🙂 On Wednesday, I was both unpacking and repacking my night out bag. Time had run away with me and while I’d remembered to hang up my wig, the rest of last time’s items, were still carefully folded up. There I knelt, looking […]

Wrong and then right. Maybe it’s all in the mind?!

Hi, I used to think that time was a constant. You know, the dependable oscillation of an electrically charged quartz wafer, the slow turn of the planet, or the slow arc of the sun across the sky. But no. 🙂 Instead, time seems to run at different speeds. Take for example waking up. The alarm goes and through Herculean effort, I manage to raise not only my eyelid, but focus my eye and swipe ineffectively at the smart phone.  🙂 Apparently, five minutes pass, whereas in my head, it’s ten seconds before the snooze function kicks in. I wonder if this lost time is used to pad the morning when you get into the office and you realise you are […]

Our cards are dealt, how we play them, therein is the game.

Hi, How’s things? Y’know, there are times when I struggle to get this blog off the ground. So to speak. I’ll skip on work and weather reports for now and move straight. The summer holidays – for the kids at least – have arrived. Nottinghamshire broke up this week, so Wee Man and Little Miss have been around the in- and out-laws, until the kid camp opens later on. Oh, the joys of working parents eh? 🙂 Is it the modern disease? The yearly trek to sports centres, science fairs and visits to grandparents, while mum and dad try to balance the holiday entitlement? Maybe it is, but we don’t do bad, all things considered. Talking of good news, the […]

“slave screams he thinks he knows what he wants”

Hi, That’s the first week back after a fab holiday. All in all, it could have gone a lot worse, so small mercies eh? It doesn’t seem long since we were packing our bags for the big trip, and yet, it’s half term for Wee Man and Little Miss already. Another week off? Larks, you’ve just had a fortnight, you jammy so-and-so’s! 🙂 I’m pretty sure I won’t be taking any time off this week coming. I’m keeping it stashed for the next family holiday, so the Ever Lovely Mrs J (who seems to manage to save her flexi-time up – mainly as she works so very hard) will be covering. Oh, and no doubt Mrs J Senior may be […]

Meh.

I’m knackered. I wouldn’t mind, but it’s been a short week. Three days isn’t really a full week is it. Ho hum. So….. I’m a bit meh really. How’s things with you? _____________________________________ Don’t ask why, but I stumbled upon the quote (see image) the other day. I was going to pop it on Facebook, but for some reason, the broadband pixies had other ideas. I will be honest with you and say that many times, I forget the above. I would like not to, but I do. Should I be a walk over? No, and I don’t think that’s what the saying means. But, I think I should be a little more forgiving (Ed: look out, Brit understatement approaching […]

“But you light up, and keep me out the cold.”

Hi, After posting earlier in the year that it was rather warm, Winter’s icy blanket came to rest across large parts of the UK. Now, I like walking in snow, I like the look of it and I particularly like the odd crunching sound it makes as you stroll around though it. Yeah, I’m odd like that. Childhood memories and the magic of a snowy winter with a good sledge. Anyways, the only bits I’m not so keen on are that it’s been so cold and driving in it, is not so much fun. Still, the roads are pretty clear right now and what with winter boots being the sale – yay! – bargains were snagged by the Ever Lovely […]
