Tea power

Hi, Do you find that you talk yourself out of doing something? Okay, sometimes this is a good thing (do I really want that second pint at lunch?), but if you’re anything like me – and you have my sympathy if you are! 🙂 – there are times when fortune favours the brave. So it was yesterday. I had the good fortune to be working at home (Yay! No meetings!) and as I worked through my Do List, I wondered about Thursday night out. The weather was a lot cooler and yet, I wasn’t quite in the right mood for it. Indeed, in many ways, I was revving myself up for just going along in Bob Mode. Summer can be […]

Accepting your weirdness

Hi, Some weeks are just the passing of time, whereas some, are more a series of small, but happy events. This time around was one of those. Firstly, I was on Single Dad Duty for the early part, as the Ever Lovely Mrs J was away on a course. This meant early starts (I really don’t do mornings) and being organised, rather than loafing about until nearly school time, with a coffee and my smartphone. How single parents manage it all, I really don’t know and hats off to those that do. But, the Every Lovely Mrs J has returned and not too tired either, so it’s all good. It’s a week’s respite and then I think she’s got another […]

Don’t mess with Mr Inbetween

Hello dear reader, How’s things with you? Are you, like me, glad it’s Friday night? I know I am. This week has been…. troubling. Not difficult or hard, but tricky. I have been – to use an English phrase – been occasionally swinging the lead, as my heart just wasn’t in it. When I can get lost in my work, that’s a good thing. Distractions melt away and I’m happily in the zone listening to people, thinking up solutions and trying to make things a little better. But, when I can’t, I’m listening to the less-than-useful circular thought patterns. They’re like noisy planes stuck orbiting with no rush to land. Instead, they buzz and roar and generally get in the […]

The disappeared

Hi, I’m back from holiday, and a good time was had by all. A good mix of walking, visiting the old (no, not me, you cheeky so-and-so 😉 ), some good food and lots of happy memories. The funny thing about modern holidays, at least for me, is the impact of technology. Most cottages, and certainly hotels, have WiFi nowadays. If not, it can be surprising, at just how many places have decent mobile broadband. Usually, it’s on tap 24/7, until you’re lost or really need to look something up 😉 Anyhoo, with connectivity being so abundant, I can still check in with T friends, while on holiday. In a small way, it’s a bit like taking your support network […]

Summer days

Hi, This week has been a bit of a gift. Firstly, I’ve had three days at home, so I can attend a virtual training course. One of those modern things, where instead of community to spend most of the day in front of a computer screen, you – ummm – stay at home in front of a computer screen. 🙂 I am, however, doing the process and the trainer a disservice and only from a (weak) comedy angle. In fairness, these remote training sessions mean I can balance home and work life, without any major difficulties on either side. For those of you with a technical bend (Ed: ooh, Matron!), this course was on Cloud Services. There were a large […]

Nurse, she’s out of bed again.

Hi, Q. What do you call a cross dresser who doesn’t dress? If the answer is ‘cross’ then the hat certainly fitted earlier in the week. Thankfully, I have now calmed down a bit. I guess I was feeling stuck in the rat race. A silly prison of my own making. The feeling that it’s the same ol, same ol loop. At least, if you’re not thinking right and you start looking at things the wrong way. What can you do? I suppose, rebel in little ways by not allowing yourself to be stuck. Doing things like a different route to work, buying your lunch from different places and trying to get out of the office. Make changes where you […]
