“I’m on a mission,
In the destination unknown…”

Hi folks, Earlier today I was pondering what to write about. I had thought about doing a version of Desert Island Discs, a favourite radio show of mine. Yes, you know my keenness with music, but truth by told, it is as much the story of the person behind the tracks that interests me. Well, some interviewees, I should add. Sportsfolk don’t interest me so much, so those episodes I tend to overlook. Perhaps it’s because I don’t look into their world so much. Maybe if I did, I’d take more of an interest. Anyhoo, that will have to wait for a little while as I consider a few tracks. T-Town Some weeks (Ed: months?) ago, I talked about the Our […]

“You know my hips don’t lie,
And I’m starting to feel it’s right”

Hey, A bit of a late post from me, but it’s been one of those strangely busy evenings. I clearly remember coming home before six and then after that, it was all a bit of a blur. I guess a part of the evening has gone due to the fact that I’ve been setting up a new computer – well, new to me. This one, despite being four years old, is a  quieter and a lot faster than the other cobbled together unit I had. Sometimes, it’s the little things. Plus, that’s a few hundred quit that I don’t need to spend. I’m not a fan of buying gadgets when I can repair / hack something together to meet my […]

“I’m back and ready to go,
From the rooftops shout it out, shout it out!”

Hello Dear Reader, So much to blog and yet so little planning. Let’s start at the beginning, shall we? Yup, I’ve hit that midway milestone that is 40 years. I was…. back in my late 30s, strangely concerned by this number. Which is, now I’m older, wiser (!) and in a different age bracket, unsure of what all the fuss was about. I still feel like I did in my 20s, although I’m a bit more sure of myself and there are a fair few more miles on the clock. Other than that, all is well. The odd thing is, when do I start planning for my mid-life crisis? I’ve done the motorbike, tattoo, long hair, earring and dodgy outfits… […]

“Come into the garden, babe,
oh, come on in!”

Hey folks, Summer holiday time this week and very welcome it was too. A few days away from the rush of work and a chance to ignore the List of Stuff To Be Done on the fridge (home) and monitors (work). Instead, time to wander through the countryside, let the kids play without having to watch the clock and, if I’m lucky, to ponder life, catch up on some reading and generally do note* for a week or so (* Ed: for our visitors, note is a corruption of ‘nowt’ which in turn is a northern slang for ‘nothing’). Earlier this month the Jones Massive went off to a party. It’s not something we do regularly and it was with a number […]

“Cause I’m in too deep, and I’m trying to keep,
All the thoughts in my head, instead of going under.”

Hi folks, Deep breath and concentrate, Lynn…. It’s been a bit of a mixed bag since my last blog entry. There’s been some good stuff and some not so good stuff. I’ll get the moaning not so good stuff out of the way and end on a positive note. 😉 Given last week’s mental… issues… I had high hopes for Chameleons this time around. Funny, really; I could have really done with some ‘Lynn mode’ this week, yet it did not come to pass. Or more accurately, not completely. Home was fine, work didn’t hold me back, but the weather – for me at least – was just too much. I was late leaving home and on the way there, I […]

You took my light, you drained me down,
But that was then and this is now,
Now look at me

Hello, How’s things with you? Hopefully all rather good. It is – at least at the time of writing – the weekend and for some of us, that’s two days away from work. Time for you the Jones Massive to duck the treadmill of modern life and kick back into the slow lane. With luck, there’ll be a spot of lunch, a few walks in the park and if the weather stays good, maybe a bike-ride too. Yay for spring! Cheer up, Mrs This week saw the last of my anti-miserablist sessions, or as the NHS like to call it: CBT. The session was fairly brief, just a summary of what we’d talked about and a bit of the obligatory […]
