Pots of gold

Hi, Yay for Fridays! The magic of what might be as the weekend stretches out before us. Mind you, the above is no less, even if you’ve been a work dodger, like me, and had most of the week off. 😉 But, it’s half-term and I think I can safely say, everyone at Jones Towers was in bed of a break. Certainly Child 2.0 (exams + school), the Ever Lovely Mrs J (difficult to be that awesome day in, day out), and Muggins here…. who just needed a break to recharge. Past Behaviours As it was half-term, Mrs J and I have been balancing child care, looking after the hounds, and Life Stuff – so far, so typically working parents. […]

To better days

Hi, How’s things? Hopefully good and if not, fingers crossed they improve for you. It’s been a rather busy week at Chez Jones: another round of mock exams for Child 2.0, bless him. Plus a training course for Muggins here. Both of us are glad to see the weekend, as our collective brains are in need of a rest. Chams It was Chams this week and yet nearly wasn’t. I’d made a mistake with the web site and that was showing the wrong information. Luckily, I’d logged on to check the forum, and a few of our more alert attendees had already spotted the error. Oh dear, Lynn, do you need a sit down and 40 winks, my love? 😁 […]

Slow Time

Hi, There are times, I think, when it’s better to be in the slow lane. This afternoon’s dog walk was unhurried. Letting me feel the cool but not cold wind and giving the Hounds of the Basketcases sniff and -ahem- decorate the woods. Likewise, some garden tidying and taking things to the recycling yard. No looking at the clock and worrying with the next appointment is. Getting those “To Do” items out of my head felt good as well. While I’m certainly feeling the dip in monies, I think I’m finding the time back more useful. Talking of time, I’ve booked myself in for some self care / beauty treatment next week. Luckily I fell on a gap in the […]

Circles, stones, rings, and things

Hi, Hello blog, my old friend. I’ve come to waffle on again… and with apologies to Paul Simon. 🙂 I’ve been gifted with a Friday off and I think I needed it. Not for any great dramas, but the five day week seems too much at this point in life. Introspective Today I had my second appointment with the counsellor and it really helped. We spoke about anxiety, load metaphors (we’ll come back to that in a mo), briefly the past, and the hidden impact of being genderfluid. So, load metaphors? Load as in emotional heavy lifting. Some folk might say they’ve got a full plate, they’re snowed under, etc. I’ve heard some use the spoons metaphor of certain activities […]

The future and the past

Hi, Welcome to the future! Flying cars; near free energy from the local plasma tokamak; the three day week; snow at Christmas; food for all; bespoke clothes that fit and that are ethically and environmentally sourced; and everyone so jolly there’s no need for war and hate. …. and then I woke up. Bugger 🙄 Still, has it ever been thus if we only hear about the bad stuff? Shall we instead turn from the wider issues and take a moment to look at the smaller stuff? No, not my IQ number 😉 but the things we can do locally, and try to do good where we can? Chams 2024.01.E1 If I was a proper geek I might have written […]

Bye bye 2023

Hi, I hope you had a good Christmas, and if not, fingers crossed that things start to improve for you 💜 Christmas at Chez Jones was a fairly quiet affair, but I think it’s just what we needed this time around. No driving around the county (or country) jamming in visits and having a household full of guests. Although, I think COVID19 changed our behaviour during the lockdowns. Instead, we’ve spread things out and it was just the immediate family. As such, it was much more relaxing. Something I think we were all glad of. Big picture With the year drawing to the close, it seems nearly de rigueur to cover what’s happened over the last twelve months. In honesty, […]
