And breathe…

Hi, It’s been somewhat hectic on Planet Jones this week. The Ever Lovely Mrs J has not been well, bless her, and with GCSEs in full swing for Child 2.0, pick-up times are all over the place. Still, it’s the weekend and now exams are over, Child 2.0 has three months off until the start of sixth form. Oh, and prom. Three months? Well, you can imagine how chuffed he is about that. A very long summer and, to top it off nicely, no more school uniform. Gah, how he (and I) hated it. Gaspers Unfortunately, the cold shifted from the usual nose and feeling a bit pants situation, into an awful cough, and Mrs J’s been off work with […]

To be at ease

Hi, As I tap away on my phone, lying on the sofa with a full tum, I can hear the distant hum of the heat pump drier. No more do I worry about the clothes being shrunk nor the electricity bill in using it. It also means I don’t have to faff about running in and out as the summer showers drift through. One night accuse me of ‘ligging about’, but hey, it’s Friday and I’ve had a day off. My batteries feel much recharged and the house is looking better than it did earlier too. Still, better ligging, than orming. The latter being sitting around ungainly, squirming, and fidgeting. I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the above […]

No longer tumble drying bricks

Hi, Ah, hello Bank Holiday weekend, half-term, and a cheeky non-working Friday to set things up….. and relax. 😎 Bags of Sugar When it comes to describing my mental health, my go to reference is bags of sugar. I guess we can all relate to the physical weight and bulk of said kilogramme item. Perhaps I’ve taken the phrase “mental heavy lifting” a little too literally. So, that waffle preamble aside – mmmm, waffles 🐖 – I’ve had the good fortune to work towards putting a few down of late. I guess this is a long winded way of saying I feel less overloaded 😉 But, hey, if I’d given a TL/DR (too long / didn’t read), we’d have missed […]

Blue, white, & pink without the blues

Hi, How’s things, dear reader? What to talk about today, eh? I feel that there’s been a somewhat cyclical nature to my posts this year. Chams, what’s in the news, and rare times out. But then, would I grumble about a cooking blog where the author writes another post about food? 🙂 Hopefully not, so while there’s certainly going to be pattern about things, maybe it’s a case of YATGB doing what the blog name says. Trans History Week 2024 I’m going to say I’ve been a bit remiss on this one. I noticed a few articles popping up about the first Trans History week on Pink News and I had an email from Stonewall featuring it too. There might […]

Learning, not failing

Hi Trans Mafia and allies 😉 A shaky start to the week, given a ‘blessing’ from the Faery of Colds. Cue two plus days of a visit by Professor Sneezy McSneezeface and their executive colleague, Dr Sleepin Allday-Ont-Sofa. Buuuut, it was only two days and that goodness for decent sick pay. At least there’s no worries about being stuck in the awful position of not being able to afford time off ill. Lifestyle of the non rich and poorly I should point out that I completely agree with our Prime Miniature – sorry! Mini Sinister. Goddamnit! Minister 😉 – that being ill is a lifestyle choice. He’s absolutely right that the Ever Lovely Mrs J’s long term health conditions are […]

Not doing owt

Hi, Ahh, a week’s staycation, a night out, and a long weekend? Well, colour me well chuffed and tiptoperoo 🙂 Engage smug mode 🤓 ( For the non Midlands Massive, owt – said ‘oat’ – means ‘anything’. Typically used as a reply to an accusation. “Me? I’ve haven’t done owt!” 🙂 ) Chilling Out With the Easter holidays in their second week, myself, the Ever Lovely Mrs J, and Child 2.0 had time off. Okay, technically Child 2.0 was already off, but they did attend some pre exam top-up lessons for their art GCSE, bless them. Crikey, extra lessons out of term time: he is dedicated 🩷 We did a few trips out as a family and then Mrs J […]
