Rush

Hi, I was going to make a gag about being a day late, but the punchline seemed a little rude. I’ll leave it to you to assemble the rest. Hmm, no wonder the stand-up didn’t take off. 🙂 If you want a reason – rather than an excuse – the Ever Lovely Mrs J and I were enjoying a rare evening out together. Well, it was our anniversary. I’d also like to say thanks to you all for reading and commenting on this little corner of the web. Oh, and also to those of you kind enough for what you had to say on this blog’s eighth birthday. Put your feet up, mrs Larks, it’s been busy these last few […]

“A life to call our own,
That is ours alone,
Is as hard as hell to come by these days.”

Hi, The Past The other day, over on ‘Straightbook’ a friend request popped into my inbox. It was from an old school mate. Now, I’ve probably used up my quotient of ironic quote-marks. If I had any more, I guess they’d be around the word mate. 😉 I was a little thrown by this and me being me, I was in a bit of a spot over to accept or not. Seems silly now I look back. Not so much the outing that happened back then, but more me taking the time to consider accepting. I guess I was thinking forgive & forget but at the same time, I was worried that if I did, would he have another pop at outing me again? […]

“And who would have thought that I’d be so content in my own skin”

Captain’s log. Star date? Oh, I don’t know. I hope the Blogger software will fill it in. Maths was never really my strong point. Ask me one about this season’s fashions or something. What? Oh, give it a rest Spock. I don’t want to hear about your Countdown pwnage story and Carole’s mistake with a four category prime and the imaginary number. Go and annoy, Bones or something. ___________________ I’ve not idea why I type that in. Perhaps in the pint of Hobgoblin I sunk earlier, has left me a little confused. What a lightweight. I’ll be mincing it up in lady’s clothes at this rate…. 😛 ( Ed: c’mon Lynn. Concentrate, dear ) The Goldilocks Post The observant amongst you will […]

“It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.”

Hi, Yes, I’m a day later than usual, but I have a good excuse; I was living it up on an Invasion night out. I could have gone with the dog ate my blog blog, but as the hound has her own Blogger account, what’s the chances of that? 🙂 For those of you who’ve still got a turkey to wrap and presents to stuff, I’ve prepared two versions of tonight’s post. Abridged Changing issues. Got fab. Had a truly great night out. Got home. Slept. Unabridged Good News from the War on Moping Not sure if I alluded to this in the last few posts, but in recent months, life – from a pro-celebrity miserablist point of view – […]

“I’m on a mission,
In the destination unknown…”

Hi folks, Earlier today I was pondering what to write about. I had thought about doing a version of Desert Island Discs, a favourite radio show of mine. Yes, you know my keenness with music, but truth by told, it is as much the story of the person behind the tracks that interests me. Well, some interviewees, I should add. Sportsfolk don’t interest me so much, so those episodes I tend to overlook. Perhaps it’s because I don’t look into their world so much. Maybe if I did, I’d take more of an interest. Anyhoo, that will have to wait for a little while as I consider a few tracks. T-Town Some weeks (Ed: months?) ago, I talked about the Our […]

“Throw your bombs and your blows,
But you’re not gonna break my soul.”

Hi, Just when I thought I’d snaffled all my Maltesers, I spied one rested at the side of the keyboard. Little pleasures eh? By a strange quirk of thought (Ed: Fate?), I guess that sums up most of the week really: small, but welcome bursts of good things happening. The first part of the week saw me away from home on a training course. Some IT “what’s new” gig and while you could argue it could have been a rather tedious death-by-PowerPoint marketing exercise, it wasn’t like that at all. Instead, we – I say, we as a work mate went along – did learn a few things and overall, the course was very helpful. Having a few nights away in […]
