Seasonal

Hi, Well, that’s the first week of work in the bag. I’ll not go into the full details, however I will say two things. Firstly, I think the induction into the team was the best I’ve ever had. That and the organisation – or at least the core team I’m working with – has more women than men. Again, a good thing for someone like me, given I’m certainly not a macho type. Plus I’m working from home, so ‘office attire’ can be mixed and matched – provided the top half passes as masc 😉 Chams We had a spike of ‘guests visiting the forum’ over at Chams HQ. Not that any bots can see much; it’s all locked away […]

Pocketses

Hi, The difficult thing about writing a blog entry – and I should add, IMO 🙂 – is getting started. It seems to be an either/or of having nothing in the tank, or the overly full shopping bag that’s wobbling about on the backseat. Today seems very much the latter metaphor. If you just give me a mo, I’ll try to make it to the proverbial table, and bring matters to rest. Right, that’s that metaphor well and truly tortured 😉 Let’s get on with this week’s gibbering eh? 🙃 Nails At my last appointment to the beautician – yes, make your own jokes about they’ve got their work cut out or I hope they get paid by the hour […]

Little and big

Hi, I was thinking about ‘wins’ or luck, but I am now thinking Little & Big sounds like a hapless cartoon crime fighting duo. That or the illusive magical fashion store that stocks all the clothing, lingerie, and footwear for people who are definitely not in the ‘one size’ camp. Alternatively, it could be both, because life is odd. Ah, I see the coffee has kicked in and the ADHD Goblin has turned the creative whimsy dial up to eleven 🙃 To AI or not to AI? That is the question Given the above imaginary wanderings, you might be expecting a picture of a cute goblin. It’s true that I have been using AI to create those. Yes, I can […]

Weather the storm

Hi, According to Elmore Leonard and his Ten Rules of Writing, number one is “Never open a book with weather.” This is great advice and as I’ve started this week’s blog post by referencing Mr Leonard’s sage wisdom, I can now talk about the snow 😉 Chamsellation A bit of a – thankfully rare! – occurrence, in that we had to cancel the first Chams’ meeting of the year. I had kept an eye on the weather and pretty much not thought much about it. I mean, it’s not often we have a bad winter in the East Midlands … [ Weather gods, please do not take this as a provocation! 🙏] … so I was somewhat surprised to see […]

Something for the memory bank

Hi, How was New Year’s? Hopefully good. Hands up who left coal outside, did the First Footer thing, or another tradition? Personally, I like to renew the enchanted salt paint to keep [insert name here] away from the house 😉 #32: Enjoy the Little Things I’ll let the geek massive have a grin at that reference 🤓 However, film quotes aside, I feel there’s some truth in it. Today we had a fright slight dusting of snow in the wee hours. This meant we – and the hounds – needed to be suitably wrapped up against the chill. Cue leggings and opaques under jeans for warmth (yeah, right 😉) and my new Popsy boots. They’re just -ahem- genderfluid enough to […]
